We've been longtime fans of The Bus,but they have since gone downhill . We ate there last week and it was so lousy that I've lost my appetite for them all together. There are way too many other options now that are Much better. Plus, I wrote an email to them and never got a response. Poor customer service. I think they've lost their passion. Adios Taco Bus!

    (2)
  • Wayne S.

Yeah, I've been to The Bus. The authentic Mexican fare is pretty okay. Fun atmosphere. I like their style. Coke in the bottle apologizes for just about anything really, but I'm only granting 2 stars because I grew up on California Mexican food and "fair" seems fair. Recommended for hangovers though.

Adding to this review- We were DEFINITELY ALL FOOD POISONED!!! Ok so first off we came hungry and planned to eat a lot since our last visit but this was an awful experience this time. (Have em 5 stars last time) So no credit cards due to the fact their machine was down (ok now big deal, we understand). Luckily I had cash on me. I am a vegan. I specifically came here because I am vegan. I ordered a VEGAN burrito and specifically told them no cheese- asked for daiya cheese which they had last time- this time they told me no (I am allergic to real cheese and lactose intolerant) so what do I get in my food? Cheese covering everything. They delivered the food with no silverware or utensils- we had to ask for it. Ok for a burrito or tacos but we also got rice and Guac. Anyhow Two tacos, Mexican rice and a burrito=$27. And the portions are definitely smaller than a year ago. Very dissatisfied customer who traveled a long way to patronize this place. Not cool. Yea they apologized for the mistake but big deal. Felt like I was a nuisance to them more than anything as the girl who served us was more focused on eating her own food in the corner and playing on her computer than taking care of customers. Overpriced and not taken care of at all. Will never be back. Wasn't the "servers" fault I guess- the half zoned out register guy (wearing sunglasses at 8 at night) said he lost our ticket 5 minutes after we ordered. Pherr Pherr the one star is because there food is tasty (the only redeeming factor) definitely not worth the price or going out of your way for though. Buyer beware!! step it up taco bus so so deflated. This place has turned into a joke. Kinda pissed off. The worst thing was there was no one to even complain to there and it looks as though no one from taco bus ever responds to the reviews. :(.

Visiting from California and wanted good tacos in the Tampa Bay Area... So disappointed. Vegetarian tacos were a let down and the tres leches cake that is supposedly made in house tasted like week old store bought. Very cool location, but the guys here are making subpar tacos.

  • Kelleigh M.

While I do like the taco bus, I don't love it. I think there are much more authentic taquerias in town. But with that being said, the bus is always a solid, inexpensive choice. I ventured out of my comfort zone today and tried some new items. Unfortunately I did not like the butternut squash item, and the tempeh taco was ok...not bad but not great. Although I did like the shrimp taco. I know this is America, but I wish they'd skip topping the tacos with tomato and add a little more cilantro.

    (4)
  • Angela M.

Wow, so disappointed. The amount of food for the price was awful. My husband and I both got the "big" 14 inch burrito.. The burrito was hardly full. The rice inside was under cooked. Barely any meat. Not much flavor.. I paid a dollar extra for guac, they forgot it.. They brought it on the side for me after and it was a tiny tiny little blop. Heard pretty much every other table around us say that something in their order had been forgotten. Apart from it being neat that the food came out of a bus.. They don't have anything else going for them. Won't be back for sure.

Awesome variety. Nice indoor and out door seating. Oddly long wait for some pretty simple food. Lacking flavor on the red pork thing. It's the "Taco Bus" favorite...but not my favorite. I didn't try the fish but I had an opportunity and passed as it looked rather small and I didn't want to take too much away from my friend's small portion. The vegan steak was the highlight of the meal while the ceviche was the lowlight. The service was not good or bad. It was there. The tortillas were not heated enough to keep them from splitting. The toppings were as ok as the service. I'll tell you what, it wasn't bad. Over all it was just fine. I think the hype killed it for me. The best thing about it was that it confirmed my assumption, it would be hard to beat the taqueria down the street. I won't mentioned there name because this isn't a review on them...I did one one their place already and I'm sure you can easily find it. This neighborhood is up and coming. Being from New Orleans we are big supporters of local businesses and I wish this whole neighborhood well. I'd say people should try this place out. It isn't bad, it just didn't beat the other place. Hope that was helpful. Taco on. I'm out of the town and onto the next. Follow my adventures in food on NolaChef504.net or not. That's cool too. Cheers

The cashier was very friendly & patience (we took forever to order because we couldn't choose)...I had a decent steak taco & a small side of guacamole w/chips for about $6. My friend had tacos w/a side of rice & beans & she said the rice was dry & didn't taste fresh (but this review is based on my food & personal experience). Oh & their hot sauce has the most amazing flavor. They had inside & outside patio seating w/fans which I thought was cool. After you order you food, go find a seat & a really awesome server will bring your food to you.

  • Kristen S.

This was not what I was expecting. Most of it was ok, I got the nachos... but it was covered in a white, super salty cheese goo. There was so much of it that I thought at first glance it was a sour cream or something. It basically made it inedible.

    (1)
  • Claire M.

If you are used to super authentic mexican food, or are used to mexican food in the SF Bay Area or Austin food trucks, you might not love this place. The tacos are ok...I think they could have more flavor, but all in all, it is an ok place to stop for a quick meal.

    (3)
  • Michael B.

This rating is strictly based off the vegan options the Taco Bus offers, with that said, I LOVE YOU Taco Bus. Your options are so amazing, the tostada veganized was sooo good, the fresh chips and guac the bomb. Whoever decided to offer 4 different vegan "fillings" should be hugged, you're a wonderful person. The whole system from ordering, to sitting outside (late night BIG plus) to them bringing the food and me wolfing it down. Awesome. I try to only rate things that make me feel warm and fuzzy inside to spread the word. I don't think the word necessarily needs to be spread about the Bus but I want them to know that they have my utmost respect. I'll see you later!

Gross. Meat was sketchy and cold. Toppings limited and also did not taste fresh. Neither of us liked it which is a shame because we have heard great things about taco bus. Maybe need to try a different location but kind of wary after this bad experience. Bland bland mexican food is tragic.

  • Shane M.

After a few (maybe too many) beers at Green Bench and 3 Daughters my older brother and I decided to hit the Bus for an afternoon filler. I was NOT disappointed. I got the shrimp burrito with medium/hot salsa and it was terrific. Good fresh flavors, crisp cabbage, perfectly cooked shrimp. And their table sauces were terrific - most really fail by comparison. Now, full disclosure, my brother had some (ahem) issues with the tacos he ate. But I tend to chalk that up to the fact that he's a bit of a delicate flower when it comes to branching out his gastronomy... All in all, I thought it was great and my family an I will hit it again before we return to Denver.

  • Jr H.

Was looking forward to eating here and they were out of steak and said it would be 15 minutes to cook, we said okay we'll wait, we ordered rice and beans, then we were informed they were out of rice on a Thursday night at 8pm! Bad management! Doubt I will be back.

I used to love this place but it has really gone down hill in recent months, ever since the last menu change. Service has always been hit or miss, which is fine for a place like this, but the food quality is not nearly as good as it once was and they seem to have changed their stance on trying to be vegan/vegetarian friendly. They've removed tempeh from the menu, they rarely have tofu in stock and worst of all they've stopped cleaning their cooking surfaces before cooking their "vegetarian" filings, so your veggie burrito is actually full of animal grease. The menu used to state that they would clean the grills but that has been removed as well. I found a chunk of hamburger in my mushroom burrito last time I went there. I used to come here 2-3 times a week, but never again. There are much better options now, especially for vegans.

  • Dennis S.

I've been here before many times but this time, for lunch, there was NO LINE!! Food was good, although my burrito wasn't very hot. It was a bean an cheese but the beans were just slightly warm. Good, but not the best temperature. Rice on the side was overcooked and bland. But, as usual, super fast friendly service, great clean outdoor seating an the food is always pretty damn good for the price.

  • Dan C.

This place has alwaysbeen pretty good but never quite lived up to its expectations until now I had to tour to which has to be the best tasting sandwich I've ever eaten in my entire life the bread was awesome the veggies or fresh the meet was flavorful and the sauces are all delicious I'll get the sandwich every time I come here now and I would go out of my way to get here

    (5)
  • Jennifer S.

The taco buses in Tampa are actually really good. This place is always mediocre. I like the outdoor seating and it is close to friends so we decided to go there for a quick dinner before walking around Downtown. The other couple I was with shared a chicken torta. My husband and I shared a mushroom torta. They received their food a good 45 minutes before us. The torta was fine. Nothing special. The soda machine looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. The service is not very good.

  • Laura D.

This restaurant has really cheapened everything they offer and is really sad and disappointing because I used to eat their food 1-3 times a week and now it's only when I have exhausted all other options. Their queso is randomly not anything like what it used to be (think cheese wiz and cream of mushroom soup) they stopped giving generous fillings in the toppings so now the squash tacos basically are just a tablespoon of water with 6-7 tiny squares of squash (gross) and they never answer their phone.

Curse you, Taco Bus! This is my second try, hoping for a better experience. Today's mishap was: Carnitas burrito, all veggies less cabbage. Add sour cream. Missing: cilantro Carne asada burrito: all veggies less cabbage. Add sour cream and guac. TB is out of guac. Missing: all veggies less cabbage (yes it had cabbage nothing else) Carnitas taco: all veggies less cabbage. Add cheese and sour cream. Missing: the entire taco - in its place was a small container of very old/dry rice and equally dried out refried beans. Be wary if ordering to go as these guys are now 0 for 2. The carnitas is very good. I bet it's even better with cilantro. Not that I'd know...

    (2)
  • TJ T.

    I. LOVE. TB! My favorite burrito is from here. I used to order the beef tongue (lengua) burrito often, until I googled to see how much fat and calories is in beef tongue. Now I get the shredded pork burrito instead. The flavor is great and I love that there's a little fat in it. The tacos with shredded pork is equally good, though the burrito is a better value. My bf usually gets the butternut squash tostadas and sometimes shredded chicken tacos. The area it's located in isn't the best and there's not much to look at, but sitting outside on a nice weather day is just perfect. I'm so glad that among a lot of restaurants in the area, my bf prefers TB because I really could eat there everyday.

Ah Taco Bus...a favorite go to for late night food cravings. Tried and enjoyed are the shrimp burrito, ceviche, guacamole, carne asada tacos and Hibiscus Lemonade. Let me just tell you about the Hibiscus Lemonade... It's like crack. Such an intoxicating combo of sweet and tart with a faint hint of floral. Can't explain how good it is but I occasionally crave it.

We have been regulars before attending Rays games. This season we have been very disappointed with the portions that are served. The portions are much smaller than they were in the past. We also tried the El Jeffe and there was again a very small portion of meat. Each bite was mostly beans and tortilla. The service is slower and many times they make mistakes with the order.

Dont eat here unless you like zip ties in your burritos! EEEEKKKK ! This place gives real mexican restaurants a bad name.

Cochinita Pibil was tasty. I could definitely have 4 or more of it. But @ $2.99 I think it's pricey for what I get (and experience). The $2 Coronas was a deal though so overall it evened-out :) I would go back but I doubt my family would be willing to do so. I still give it 3 stars coz I enjoyed my food and Coronas

Oh gawd--the cravings for beautifully seasoned Pork sandwiched between fresh, simple Veggies and a crispy Tortilla--how I drool now. Make it stop! I have tried leaving this mistress but its large yellow signs keeps beckoning. And especially with descriptions like 'Gluten Free' 'Dairy Free Options' and even Tempeh and Tofu as menu options you know this place is run by healthy conscious, nature-loving hipsters. Spread the love! Oh I guess I'll mention the staff seems to be eternally happy about something. Maybe they just LOVE being packed into that bus's kitchen together. Great service. Once they even totally forgot to bring my order out--once I told them they apologized for a good two hours it seemed and comped some sides. But it's the flavor--they ain't pretentious here. While 'authentic Mexican' may be debated, I admire its sexiness in its simplicity. Seasoned delicious Meat, crisp and fresh Veggies, cheese or not (no thank you) and a healthy dose of homemade Salsa. Done. Mouth. Belly.

  • Christian H.

Heard a lot of great things about this place but was severely disappointed. They were out of ingredients for some things and my chicken burrito had bones in it. Could hear the cooks cursing each other out while I ordered. I'd say go anywhere else.

  • Benny B.

Quit flirting with all the girls you big dummy. Some of us want to eat within the next hour not listen to you focus on what interests you. Not coming back here in the future if it takes 40 minutes of standing in a short line for "quick fast food". Lately the food is not any where as good as it used to be, the portions won't feed a pre schooler and to top it off they keep going up in prices. Go somewhere else. They just want your money and have stopped being proud of their food at any location I've been to in the past 3 months.

I am a regular and just got no food cos they were out of food, lying is a art form that these guys have perfected

TACO BEST This stuff is freakin' close to authentic. Very delicious in its simplicity. They don't go crazy on any one ingredient which allows all of them to be tasted well yet can probably be eaten separately and still taste good. My favorites are their Quesadillas with Pork--I'm fed for two meals! Recently I've had their Burrito with Tempeh--I was enjoying all the textures and flavors together that halfway I realized this didn't contain a shred of Meat! Wow! Vegetarians will be happy. LATE NIGHT ANYTIME NOMS Just like its Tampa counterparts, this one is a late night nommy staple--on weekends it's open 24 hours. But no matter the time the atmosphere here is great for gathering with friends and enjoying a meal. There's a dozen tables inside the air-conditioned building and much more than that outside. Of course, since the food comes from a bus, it's also a great grab-and-go meal (the only ordering is very easy to use). Just as good--its location in the artsy area of Central Ave allows you to walk off all the food you ate. SERVICE... UHHH SOMETIMES Maybe it's because it feels like there's a dozen people crammed into that bus kitchen with different tasks but I've definitely had my order totally forgotten about... or a side or a drink missing or an order incorrect. It doesn't happen often but each of those have definitely happened. Luckily all it takes is a "excuse me but..." and they'll rectify the situation sometimes with a freebie. But I'd rather they just get it right the first time.

  • Jessica C.

I don't get the hype of it all, my rice was crunchy, the meat was okay once I drenched it in salsa the horchata was that powder crap and it literally was lile drinking straight powder mixed in with water... the best part about my meal with the beans... I will pass next time just thought I would give it a try and was not impressed... tex-mex galore..

This review is specifically for the catering service. My dad and I both graduated this spring, so naturally we had a large family celebration. At around $10 per person, the catering seemed like an excellent value. Two fillings (we did shredded pork and butternut squash), tortillas, rice, beans, vegetable toppings, salsa, and iced tea. The manager, Aaron I believe, answered all of my questions and made the process easy and organized. The day of we picked up the food and everything was ready to go and clearly labeled. I highly recommend this Taco Bus for any party you'd like to have catered.

  • Maria M.

Overpriced food. Rude service. Diluted guacamole. Overheard kitchen crew use profanity when I had questions about my food. Cochinita Pibil was decent. I wonder if they changed ownership within the past year. Not at all like I remembered it.

    (1)
  • Jack S.

This used to be my go to place for authentic mexican but it seems they have changed their menu. The tacos are still good but no more tamales. And they used to have the best refried but they've taken out the lard which made it good, in order to make it vegetarian. Hey, when you try to cater to everyone and dumb down the food, you might as well open a McDonalds.

2015 Worst Meal: They handmake super greasy chips that I think they must of marinated in unflavored oil prior to frying in cool oil overnight. The guac was good. The chicken salads lettuce celebrated the warm water that it had moments before washed (hank you for washing) and did not dry. The bland chicken tasted like boiled not grilled, and was lacking any seasoning at all...not even salt and pepper. Service - The people in the truck were very liekeable. It took us 45 minutes for all of us to get our food. They put numbers on everyones table, then they delivered 1 of 4 items and took the number so the subsequent servers walk round and round with our food until it was cold, flavorless. You then need to find them..So it was a bit aerobic and low in calories since by the time you track your food down you don't really have adequate time to eat, digest. This worked out OK since you would not want to eat the greasy chips. Other then those little things, eating outside in Fla. under umbrellas - was pretty nice. I would order in from another rest. next time and just get guac (sans chips) and sodas. xoxo

Disgusting. Today I ordered chicken tacos. The chicken is inedible. I've never seen rotten meat served at a restaurant before, but this stuff is rotten. It tastes like it was scooped out of a toilet in a Tijuana titty bar and It looks like something coughed up by one of those people on the anti-smoking commercials. This was by far the worst thing I've ever gotten from a restaurant. Throw a tortilla on the floor at any bar in Tampa then shove it down a homeless guys pants to warm it up and it'll be a better culinary experience than what is you'd have at Taco Bus. I scooped some of that rancid slime out of the taco when I got home, slapped it on a plate and took a picture because I wouldn't have believed this review without evidence... So here is the evidence... I will not recommend taco bus to anyone, and I will not return... This place should be closed down.

What can I say that hasn't been said after 160+ reviews? The place is hit or miss. Sometimes they hit my meal on point and sometimes it's lacking. Some items on the menu I will always stand by (cue chips and guacamole) while others have proven to be less consistent. It's not that the good is bad, it's just not great or authentic. I will continue to come here because I enjoy the experience and most good even though they get a bad rap for not having true Mexican cuisine.

Good food and reasonably priced. Food was fresh and had a lot of flavor! Staff was friendly, but did get the orders mixed up several times. Not a big deal as they were nice about it. Will be back!

Um, vegan burritos the size of my head? Yes please! My boyfriend introduced me to Taco Bus last week, and I've had it twice. If that doesn't tell you anything right away, then I don't know what will convince you. The first experience I had at Taco Bus was - wow, there's so many vegan-friendly options! Screw Taco Bell! Second though, what do I choose? How do I choose? What does all of this mean? Mass confusion. I went for the burrito meal-deal with vegan steak. We also ordered guac and chips. I was excited to dig in once we got home, but unfortunately, they forgot half of our order. We had to trek back in the bad weather to get the stuff they had missed, but I was so hungry I ate half of my burrito on the way. It was phenomenal. As a veg-head, I am easy to please at restaurants that aren't primarily vegetarian or vegan. The steak was convincing enough to me, but maybe that's because I haven't had steak in 7 years. Maybe. The portion sizes are really quite large, but the prices are kind of high for what I considered to be fast food. I went back again last night and ordered the same thing. This time we ate there, and boy was it good. Even though I want to eat it all at once, I took half of my burrito home for lunch today. Bliss. I think I'm developing an addiction. I can't decide if that's a good or bad sign! In the future, because I WILL be back, I plan to try their veganized tamales and tacos. I am obsessed with their green salsa, and I wish I could have a stockpile of it at home. A tex-mex place that offers spicy salsa to meet my demands is a winner in my book. The only reason they get 4 stars is because of the missing food that one time.

Very slow service. Took 45 minutes to get a cheese quesadilla. Won't be coming back. Food is good, but not worth the wait. I wish they would give customers a heads up that there is a wait. At least I might have left then come back to try it another time and not left a negative review.

Really good Mexican food, although I expected more because this place came so highly recommended. Do keep in mind that once you place your order, since everything is made to order (which, trust me, us a VERY good thing) you will have to wait a bit for your entree to come out. I love the fact that this restaurant offers you an option of what she'll you would prefer. I can't stand flour wraps and prefer corn tortillas much more, but they are rarely an option on most menus. Not here, I can always order corn!

We decided to head to Taco Bus to kick off the summer with some friends. It's kind of interesting that Taco Bus plays on the food truck movement, but it is really a restaurant with seating both indoors and out. We were appreciative of the indoor seating and air conditioning on this hot summer day. In an attempt to beat the heat I decided to try the "Agua de sandia" or watermelon water. It was very delicious, but super sweet. When it was about halfway gone I filled the cup back up to the top with water and then I really liked it even more. I was drawn to the vegetarian menu, and ended up ordering the tempeh taco (the menu says "Vegan steak strips"). The tempeh taco was okay, but not awesome. My girlfriend had the butternut squash tostado, and after stealing a bite I decided that I liked hers better. My kids both had the carne asada soft tacos and a side of refried beans and rice. They were very happy with their meals. Taco bus has a very large menu, and I would definitely like to go back and try something else.

From 3/21/14: A friend and I wanted to grab a late dinner, and we decided to go to Taco Bus. I hadn't been there before, and she said their fish tacos were okay. I got the butternut squash taco with guacamole on it. The rice and beans were alright, but I was really impressed with the taco. It may be a little pricier than the chain taco places, but the flavor was really excellent. There was a decent crowd at 8:45 P.M. on a Friday. A few things that Taco Bus should consider: (1) Better drainage by their soda machine. There was a giant puddle right under the soda machine. (2) Having the person taking orders keep an eye on who was there first. A group of three people cut in front of us, and we had to say something about it. (3) If you have a huge crowd, check your garbage cans. The one I saw was over the brim, and people were piling things on top. All in all, the food was excellent. For the price, don't expect five star dining accommodations (so don't be surprised by the stuff above), and enjoy the tacos.

Yesterday, I ate the best pork I have ever had in my entire life. At 45 years old, I thought I'd eaten everything pork could be transformed into. I was wrong. The Mayan Pork (I forget the official name - Coquibel?) introduced me to a new level of pig - one which I thought impossible. I would compare the taste of this pork to chorizo. If you are a fan of chorizo spicing - you will go crazy for this pork. I had the Mayan Pork and cheese quesadilla, I got the "appetizer size" cause it is huge. I used the equally incredible red and green salsas to compliment the meal...I found it best to use both salsas (the red is more tasty and complex, the green brings the HEAT). The "service" was great...the man who brought out our food was very personable and interested in feedback about the meal. All of our needs were taken care of... This was a solid 5-star experience for me. I am already fantasizing about going back and trying the pork in other formats (burrito, tacos, whatever). I have found my new addiction....

Holy burrito, Batman! This is good stuff. There is something on the menu to please everyone. I opted for the butternut squash burrito. It was giiiinormous. Since, it was a workday, I fought the temptation to quench my thirst with an ice cold cerveza, instead, I ordered watermelon water. Wow!!! It was also huge and delicious. I'm sure it's made with a pound of sugar, but I didn't care! To top it off, because it was raining & I was taking my food "to go", the man who took my order offered to deliver my food to my car. Needless to say, I'll be back for more enormous food and drinks at Taco Bus!

Oh taco bus- a landmark of the Tampa area. This was the first time I had been to the one in St Pete. Tacos are HUGE. Like the stuffings don't fit in the soft shells. But, they're delicious. I love that food is fresh and comes out quick. There's also just something fun about ordering from a bus. I guess they started the whole food truck trend. I'll be moving soon near the Taco Bus in Tampa. With it being 24 hours, I'm sure I'll have a lot more chances to taste their whole menu!

What's good about the Taco Bus: Great vegetarian options, good amount of food for the price you pay, the battered fish tacos, the Cochinita Pibil with virtually anything, butternut squash tostadas, the taco stand 'atmosphere' -well, you'll either love it or hate it - and the hours, obviously, nothing as satisfying as getting a couple of tacos at eleven at night. What could be better: The staff is inconsistent - sometimes they're right on top of things, other times, not so much. Lately, though, it's seemed to be improving. They got rid of two of the best things on the menu - breakfast tacos and the weekend tamales. If you don't like Latin dance music blaring in your ears, you might want to get your order to go.

Oh taco bus, how I love you. Let me count the ways. I love you for being the most authentic Mexican tacos that I can get here in Tampa Bay. I love you for your chilled red or green sauces that I can slather all over my tacos. I love you for your authentic Mexican Coca Cola from a bottle (super fizzy with sugar cane vs American Coke!). I love you for being there for me at 3am on the weekends so I don't have to go eat crappy Taco bell instead. I love you for being so legit that I can bring my Mexican friends to you with no shame. What I don't love is your location. Kind of far away from everything!

Really good vegan options. I ordered something relatively complicated and they managed to get it right. After ordering you may be wondering what to do or where to go next. If you're taking it to go, just move off to the side and someone will eventually appear with your food. The burritos are massive. The one in the picture is 1/3 gone. Honestly though, I'm not a fan of their rice or the cheese that they use, but thats just personal preference.

I was surprised at how fresh the food was since the atmosphere is...well, not that great. Very fresh tasting and a large portion for the price. Still not a big fan of food coming out of a truck (or bus in this case), but if you are into that type of thing this is the place for you!

  • Andy S.

No offense guys, but this place is overrated and has been for a long time. It's just not that great. It is good solid Mexican food but its not going to change the world. The sauce they have on the tables are good. I also like the fact that you can get a soda and then just go up and refill it yourself when you want more. It is nice to be able to eat outside here, especially when the weather is cool in the fall and winter of st. Petersburg. There are better family owned Mexican restaurants in the st. Petersburg area. Just try scrolling a little bit more to find them.

Taco Bus lived up to its hype. I have to admit I went to Taco Bus with skepticism. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the bold "in your face" flavors that their dishes boasted. Before Taco Bus, I thought I knew what "authentic" Mexican was. Well, I'm here to humbly admit that before Taco Bus, my knowledge of "authentic" Mexican was in an embryonic stage. It far surpassed my former favorite Mexican restaurant. I decided to try their tried and true... If I was to give Taco Bus a fair review, I agreed it had to be on their famous tacos. I ordered one spicy pork taco and one marinated beef taco. Both were fabulous, and the spicy pork taco offered bold elements of habanero without overpowering the natural flavors of the pork. The sauces for tacos were very modest in appearance, as they came to the table in plastic squeeze bottles. But the flavors within the bottles were outstanding (my mouth is watering thinking about them). The green one was my favorite; I'm guessing there were tomatillos/cilantro/garlic/cumin/coriander/serrano peppers blended together. Just wonderful. The tacos came with a side of rice and beans that were better than your average... a lot of Mexican restaurants add the rice and beans on just to make the plate more colorful. Taco Bus added the rice and beans with dignity and purpose. The rice was moist and not overcooked. The beans were most definitely homemade, which made them that much better. Needless to say, I was a proud member of the "Clean Plate Club". Will undecidedly return to tackle the menu--probably the downtown Tampa location as that is my stomping grounds. Til next time my fabulous Yelpers; stay hungry my friends!

It's alright, definitely not what I was expecting. I thought my food would have been bursting with flavor and it was not. I came here on a Friday night with my friend after a night of doing crafts at a place near by. As I walked up, I thought the set-up was cool. It gives off that food truck vibe with outdoor and indoor seating. I ordered two chicken tacos with rice and beans. The rice and beans were ok. The tortillas were soggy so I picked at my tacos with a fork. Overall, I thought the chicken tacos were bland, but I fixed that with their hot sauce. The hot sauce was great. I do appreciate that they offer a variety of vegetarian and vegan options because sometimes I don't want meat. Although I didn't fall in love with this place, I would be willing to give it another try. Perhaps a burrito next time!

I love TB, don't get me wrong, but lately they've been unable to fill my orders correctly. I ask for sides (refried beans and rice etc) and I always have to check my bags, get back in line and ask them to complete my order. I love love love the food and will always return for more, but I miss the days of the 4am TB run and getting my order correct.

Mexican heaven served from an old school bus. You gotta try the bus at least once! Taco Bus serves up delicious, authentic, Mexican favorites such as burritos, tacos, tortas, tamales, and tostadas with your choice of filling. Other traditional Mexican dessert delights include tres leche cake, flan, and horchata. I have a hard time straying from favorites that I choose based on how hungry I am. Tamales are offered on the weekend, and Im a big fan of the vegan tamale drenched in their red salsa. I also love the vegetarian burrito, fish tacos (so delish!) and the butternut squash tostada. Taco Bus is dog friendly and the servers are always very nice, no matter if you are dining in or getting To Go. Compared to the original Tampa location, this Bus is only a couple years old and much cleaner. At least the dumpsters are not within whiffing distance.

Love the bus. The food is always delicious!! Butternut squash is my absolute favorite. Always gotta get that. Pleased for extended hours or the weekend as well. However I am not always greeted with a smile or even ice in the soft drinks. And once they're filled my Butternut squash burrito with meat and did not honor the fact that it was NOT what I wanted.

I'm a fan of the food and the vegan options at the Taco Bus. I am not a fan of their blaring music. I understand if it's later at night (I guess some people enjoy having their eardrums blasted during that time), but 1pm on a Saturday is not very enjoyable. You can barely hear the people right next to you talk. I was starting to think they were using the loud music to deter people from eating at their establishment. Also not a fan of disposable cups and silverware for patrons dining in. Make it reusable! Or at least composed of biodegradable material. But the food is still good, and if they fix any of those things my rating will swiftly change.

I'm not a big fan of Mexican food, but ate lunch here yesterday (1/26), and it was very good. I found the menu a bit confusing to navigate, but got through that. The food was good, and I'd go back. The time to make the food was ridiculously long, and I see that others have complained about that as well. i have no idea why it took so long as they were not busy.

I'm so disappointed, been waiting to be in this area to try it. It must be an off day because all the reviews are so good, the write ups are good - I don't get it. The rice was an atrocity, dry and crunchy, refrained beans were nothing special but the taco was terrible just a bland mush of flavors. The hibiscus lemonade was delicious. Very disappointing lunch

  • Sierra S.

Here's the thing: you can't bill yourself as a Taco bus and have your food trucked in from Tampa!! I find that incredibly misleading. I visited on a Saturday night and it was quite busy. I got a side of rice and beans which were terrible. It tasted burned and when I told the "waiter" he told me that was how the batch arrived that day so they were essentially just warming portions when customers place an order. As for the rest of it, we had a variety of dishes at the table and the general consensus was "meh." Not sure why this place is so popular.

  • Ryan H.

Everybody recommends this place for some reason. It had some things going for it (quick and cheap), but the food was not it. My burrito was over salted and greasy and they didn't put the sour cream, guacamole or cheese that my gf ordered on hers. So hers wound up being pretty close to a lettuce taco. I'll probably try it again, but my first visit was not a good impression. Btw they have bottled beer, which I didn't notice on the menu but they have corona so that's cool.

  • Melody G.

Even though only 1 of the 6 vegetarian options on the menu was available & they were out of cilantro (??!!??) I was still happy with the food that I ordered - the butternut squash tacos are really good!! I have a feeling that the salsa is made super hot so that you can't eat too much of it. I would definitely give them another shot to try the other 5 veg tacos once they ditch the styrofoam plates. Styrofoam is super bad for the earth guys, come on!

I like this location quite a bit and the food is very well done. The prices are a bit high on some items and they are raking in the dough a bit due to their tv appearances. I usually get the cochinita pibil torta and it has never let me down. The pork is roasted/braised for 24 hours and comes out so tender. I enjoy a mixture of their red (mild) and green (hot) on my food here. The other option I have ordered here was the beef tongue taco and it was ridiculously tender and very flavorful. I find that their horchata is too damn sweet, but if you have a sweet tooth it'll be right up your alley.

Recent visit was a bit of a letdown. Taco Bus used to our fave, go to place for tacos. Last visit the tacos were a bit bland. No cilantro. No fresh lime. The slaw was watery and bit bland. No table service, had to order at the bus. Something has changed and not for the better.

Okay...this is my second attempt at Mexican food in St. Pete and it also failed miserably. I was immediately grossed out by the meth head with the face sores that took my order. I ordered the burrito with chicken and it was substandard. A few tips...make the beans from scratch...not out of a can...and make actual rice...not something the equivalent of Minute Rice. An authentic burrito is really not that hard to make. I also got the chips and salsa and the salsa was actually good...but the chips were really greasy. I may or may not be coming back here...depends on how drunk I am.

    (2)
  • Trinity T.

Love the concept. The food to me was less flavorful. I am not a sauce kinda person so to me the main part of the entrée (meat) should taste good on its own. My friends love this place.

Okay so I have been back a few times since they were inconveniently closed (yes it was late, but it was also the weekend and they claim to be open 24 hours on the weekend). Even considering the inconvenience, I love Taco Bus and this location usually keeps me satisfied! In my book, this is pretty darn authentic Mexican food, but all my true Mexican food connoisseur friends say I am foolish. I love the salsa. I always open my food up and pour it on. It is a bit spicy, but I like it spicy. I really really like the pork quesadilla. I get that often. Last time, I tried the chicken quesadilla, not as good as the pork. The tacos are amazing, a true staple of Taco Bus (obviously). I have reoccurring cravings for the cilantro and it forces me to keep coming back. There must be something addicting in it. The staff is friendly and helpful. They are also pretty speedy. If there is a line, it moves fast. Moreover, the get the food to you at your table pretty quick! They are supposed to be open 24 hours on the weekends and they have held true to that for the most part. I took a friend here the other night. He has not tried much Mexican besides Taco Bell and Chipolte. He was blown away by his burrito. They have a small selection of beer. They also have Mexican sodas. I usually just get a regular soda or a beer. They have a lot of seating outside. It is Florida and so outside is usually plenty comfortable no matter what season it is. However, on my last visit, it was pretty chilly, so we opted to eat inside. This was somewhat disappointing because there was a leaky ceiling and buckets everywhere collecting the drips. They also had not been very diligent in cleaning off the tables. Since it was cold, everyone was eating inside. With the drips, the crowd, and the dirty table, there was only one table left to eat at. Another couple came in after to eat and realized all the tables were dirty. They had to go outside. I felt bad for them. I hope the fix the leaky roof and do a better job cleaning off tables. If it was not for those issues, I would dole out a 5 star just because of love Taco Bus so much. But those issues were there. They are lucky I love them so much because almost any other place with those issues would have got knocked down to a 3 or even 2 star rating. But this food is consistently good and keeps me coming back,

Even though the downtown location is closer to me, I wanted to give this one a try to see how it stacked up against the downtown and original locations (haven't been to the USF one). Not well. Got my usual shrimp burrito with a side of chips and guac. The burrito itself was cold save for the shrimp, which were only kind of warm. The toppings tasted fresh, but almost as if I had grabbed the burrito out of a to-go freezer. The shrimp itself was not up to par with the other locations. Seemed overcooked on the outside and not all the way pink inside. No bueno. The guac was bland and the salsa verde at the table had an odd smoky quality to it - not something I've experienced at other Taco Buses. It still gets three stars because I love Taco Bus, but this spot is definitely living on the reputation of the brand. Seeing as downtown is closer and is my favorite location, I'll be sticking to that one from now on.

I just can't get enough of this place. We just went back for the first time since I became a Vegetarian. I got the Vegan Steak Strip Burrito and Butternut Squash Tostada, and oh my GOD. I was so happy there were no children around, I was seriously having a When Harry Met Sally moment, only I wasn't faking! Ok first of all, the tostada is topped with butternut squash, onion, tomato and cilantro and is just so fresh and perfect. Next, the burrito... I have become accustomed to making sure there's no meat or dairy on my food since I know it will make me sick. I opened it to find what I thought was ACTUAL steak. I had to make my husband taste it just to let me know. Turns out it's a seitan steak strip and I couldn't tell the difference. For vegans and vegetarians, they also have vegan steak strip tacos, tofu fajitas, vegan tamales and something else that I can't remember. Hmmm... wonder if they'd make a butternut squash burrito. Anyway, the prices are still high, but for what you get.... the vegan burrito is $8. I'd still pay it. They are also now open 24 hours on the weekend.

The famous Taco Bus. I'd heard about it, and wasn't sure if it was a sit-down restaurant or a food truck. Upon rolling up, I still wasn't sure. It's basically a fixed-location food truck with some restrooms and outside/inside seating. Get a taco. They're great. I chose barbacoa, and everything was flavorful, fresh, and not a big old ball of grease, as is usually the case at Mexican food trucks. My esteemed Yelp Miami fellow reviewer E-V-E had highly recommended the agua fresca, but I saw horchata on the menu and was immediately seduced. Mistake. I should have gone with the agua fresca. The horchata was oversweetened to the point of being cloying. It didn't have that nice gritty rice-y texture that I like, either. Oh well. Let this be a lesson, when someone gives you an emphatic recommendation, take it. Excellent cheap taco lunch, though. I'd definitely come back.

I was amazingly disappointed with my last visit. I ordered a beer for while I was waiting on my food, it arrived 5 minutes after. I ordered the papos platos, which I have had before, but they have changed the packaging so you can no longer mix up the ingredients without making a HUGE mess, and changed the chips from the crispy tostada to, well, chips. Awful. I will never go there again.

Unbelievable... Expect mediocre food. I won't elaborate here save to say that living in LA has enlightened me regarding both Mexican and vegetarian cuisine. Paid nearly 20 bucks for a few tacos and tostadas. Bad service trumps bad food: Our order was brought to us by a young waiter who needlessly and frequently lambasted all the patrons with (sic) complex vocabulary, which is to say, he used some mighty big words to diss folks given his humble post. I was really put off by the negative vibe that douche created in what is suppose to be a laid back joint.

The wheels on the taco bus go round and round round and round all thru the town. I agree w all the hype finally found the mexican food I was dreaming about. I had a saturday special - pork tamale huge and flavorful, and a steak taco. Hubby had the burrito w rice - huge and tasty. Finally found good horchata - rice water. No one serves that here. I'm from Chicago and Mexican places r everywhere. I had agua de piña - pineapple water so light and yum. Perfect sweet not crazy too sweet still thirsty afterwards sweet. They have picnic tables in sun and shade. Prices r right. Lines r long to order but fast bc they take ur order while ur standing there. Taco bus is número UNO !!!!!!!

After trying Taco Bus at the original location in Tampa and not being impressed so much, I decided to give Taco Bus another try at this newer St. Pete location. I ordered the Appetizer Quesadilla with carne asada. The appetizer Quesadilla comes with sour creme and guacamole, oppsed to the regular one without them. It was good and filling. Tasted much better than last time. I ordered take-out last time and took me 30 minutes to get home so that could be the reason why it did not taste as good. The service could be definitely better. They were not welcoming and warming. However, it is a good place to have cheap food 24/7. P.S. The bathroom was clean!

I would have given the Taco Bus five stars if it was not for the outside seating. If this place had an abundance of air conditioned, in door seating, I would be here constantly. However, I am a mosquito magnet, so I was bitten about five times while eating my dinner. In regards to the food, I think its fantastic. I've had their beef tongue tacos and a Torta Mexican Sandwich with chicken. I've never had anything like beef tongue before and simply decided to try it for the sake of being adventurous. I thought it was pretty tasty. However, I was blown away by the Torta Mexican Sandwich. The bread was fluffy and slathered with mayonnaise. I'm almost drooling just thinking about it. I also tried their pineapple water. It was huge and really sweet. I would definitely suggest trying it at least once. It is quite good, but I've just always been a fan of not drinking my calories :)

Fresh, authentic, fun. We got shredded beef and barbecoa tacos..fresh cilantro, amazing flavor. The employees are really nice - funny and young. August is Dos Equis beer special month...$1.99 bottles. It was hot as hell outside but we happily sat under our umbrella and had some tacos and cold beer for $13 total. I'm hooked.

We love this place! If you are looking for authentic Mexican food then this is the spot. Not many places have the local flavor these days, but Taco Bus does. The food is good, the prices are fair, the clientele is local, it's very casual, and the portions are large. Try the Horchata Tea with your meal, you won't be sorry. I will continue frequently this establishment for sure.

Love this place. Their fish tacos are the bomb, and their salsa is SO good -- both the red and the green. Sometimes it takes a while for the food to come, but they are making it fresh. I pretty much always want to come here. I will say, don't bother getting the guac and chips. The guacamole is good, but it's just served with what taste like store bought big round chip things. Go here!

I'll always love the original in Seminole Heights, but this location quickly became my favorite! They have a lot of options for seating both in and out of the sun. There are spots along Central to park and they also have a decent sized lot. You can't go wrong with any of the food choices. My favorites are the fish tacos, guacamole and any burrito. If you're new to the Taco Bus or visiting the Tampa/St Pete area it's a must! I always take visitors here.

The Taco Bus in St. Petersburg lives up the hype of the original and adds some cool extras. This is the only location that currently serves beer and the outside tents and dining area are constructed beautifully. My family and I dined there on a moderate day and had a great lunch outside. They had a waitress serving us and she did a good job of bringing out our orders nice and quick despite a busy load of customers. The tacos de carne asada were on-par with the original and we experimented with the chicken tamale for fun - it was huge! We had to take it to-go, but it wasn't a bad tamale in my opinion when I finally attacked it in the fridge. Overall, I like the St. Petersburg Taco Bus. It is the only location my family likes to dine at and my step-sister lives out here so I imagine we'll make future visits when we head out this way.

Food is pretty tasty. As are the fruit waters which btw you get a ton of for the price. Very chill - nice to sit outside in shaded areas. I like the music they play which is in spanish. Why 3 stars? My gripe is that there wasn't actual wait staff service, which is fine until you need something... i had to go wait in line AGAIN for awhile in the HOT sun behind a bunch of people going through the whole ordering/paying process..just to ask for a take out box so I could go home. It seems they only have one register, which is silly considering how busy they seem to be at times. So if you don't like standing out in the heat, wait til the sun goes down. and maybe bring your own tupperware.. just in case.. which I need to start doing anyway. Better for the earth and all.

I liked it, cheap and easy - but I prefer California tacos instead. I had their fish taco - which wasn't as flavorable as other places I ate - their appetizer (forgive me but the name slips my mind) with shrimp onions & peppers in a red cocktail-like sauce served on large corn chips, was gross though, it tastes like ketchup & hot sauce..u aren't missing much if u decide to pass this up unfortunately.

We stopped by last time we came to Florida on vacation, and because it was so good the last time we decided to stop again - we were not disappointed! My mom and I ordered the same thing, a burrito with chicken, rice, cheese, and guacamole. The chicken and guacamole are the highlights, with classic Spanish rice with peas, corn, and carrots to top it off. Not only are the ingredients high quality, the burritos were huge! We both barely finished our own. For the two burritos and two bottled waters it was $24, which may seem like a lot for a food truck but considering the portion sizes and the quality of the ingredients I would say it's worth it every time!

This place came highly recommended, and my experience lived up to the hype! I got a carne asada burrito without onions. The meat was perfectly done, and the other ingredients were so flavorful and fresh. Noticeably absent was any grease or drippings coming out, which I so appreciated. Can't wait to come back another time!

This place is awesome. Quick, easy, friendly, and the tacos are superb. We heard about this place word of mouth and were NOT disappointed. The fish tacos are a must have. I highly recommend them and would definitely return. The service is fantastically fast and very friendly. The indoor/outdoor ambiance is very casual and comfortable and made for a nice vacation lunch.

Awe-some when you're craving Mexican. I usually get the carne asada taco, a pollo verde taco, and the agua fresca with pineapple. Their agua fresca is AMAZING on a hot day. The only thing I wish they had was some queso. Warning: their green and red salsa is hotter than most Mexican places in the area. Love love love it, I go here all the time. :)

Pretty good tacos. Perfectly cooked and tender with lots of good flavors on the meat. Some of the best tacos I tried were the carnitas (Sunday special) and lengua tacos. Other good ones I had were of the cochon - pipli and carne asada. I don't exactly remember all I had but those were the most memorable ones. I also tried the ceviche appetizer. The liquid for the ceviche is very tomato-y, which for someone like me who doesn't like traditional lime juice based ceviche absolutely LOVED. The seafood was tender and the tomato added a robust flavor that I enjoyed. My husband, of the traditional ceviche philosophy, didn't care for the dish. Which is fine - more for me. Solid tacos spot. I think the tender meat and more robust flavors of the tacos at La Cabana del Tio in Clearwater gives them the best tacos in the Tampa Bay area standing in my book, but you really can't go wrong with anything here.

There seems to be a lack of Mexican food choices in St. Pete so the fact that Taco Bus is close to me is a huge plus. I go here at least once a week and it's a great place to sit outside with the dog or your friends. Definitely 5 stars for atmosphere and service. I take off a star because it is pretty pricey for what you get, and their guacamole could use improvement. My friend was pretty unimpressed with their tomato-ey cerviche too. However, their fish tacos are awesome and they also have plenty of veggie friendly options. I have yet to be here at 2am on the weekend but yes they are open late for the post-bar crowd.

I would just like to reiterate the fact that this food is slightly better than Taco Bell (which I think is crap food), possibly not as tasty as something like Chipotle (which I think is crap food), and a lot more expensive. Taco Bus is not a good Mexican joint; it's just a gimmick that has been severely overhyped by people in Tampa who've never been to Mexico or west of the state of Louisiana and eaten REAL Mexican food. Taco Bus would be in no way be considered "good Mexican" west of the state of Louisiana. However, for Tampa, where decent Mexican or ANY Mexican is rare, this is a decent taqueria. The fillings are hit or miss and taste old and off-seasoned, the tortillas are from a bag, the toppings are no biggie, the salsas are horrible, the prices are high. If you are from Texas, Cali, New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada, Arizona and so on, or from Mexico, do not bother going here or to any other Mexican place in Tampa Bay. You will be pissed you spent money on what Tampa considers "great" Mexican food.

Got a steak burrito and it was fabulous. I'm a hard to please foodie , so I was skeptical. A bus? It was an impulsive lunch but turned out to be well worth it. You will wait on the weekend but just sit tight! So good.

I have to give Taco Bus one star because I've only been there once and I definitely did not have a good experience. I ordered the chicken quesadillas with just chicken and cheese and every piece of chicken had gristle in it. It grossed me out so I never wanted to go back. How do you mess up chicken and cheese quesadillas?... On another note...I have seen good reviews about their horchatas so I may go there again just to try those. I probably won't eat the food again though.

People like this place? really? I don't get it . . . ok it's a cool looking place the kitchen is a food truck that doesn't move with seating around it including indoor seating. But past the cool factor . . . no. To begin with it's really not cheap the lunch special was 8 something and by the time I paid 1.99 for a 20 oz diet coke that I could buy from a machine for 1.25 the lunch special was 11.65. I was a bit miffed at the prices but felt better when the food came It was a pretty big burrito with rice and refried beans on the side. In terms of quantity it would be worth the money. Then I tasted it: to say it tasted like Taco Bell would be to insult Taco Bell. The beef in the beef burrito was utterly without seasoning and was cold so the cheese they put in the burrito didn't melt. I'm eating plain cold beef burrito with chunks of cheese. The rice and beans were similarly without flavor. So yeah count me among the very few people who think Taco Bus is way over hyped. Seriously if you want real authentic reasonably priced mexican food that's tasty go here yelp.com/biz/mexico-lind… If you really want Taco Bus go here yelp.com/biz/taco-bell-s… and save yourself some money.

Everybody working at Taco Bus DTSP is so nice. I talk to them like I know them and it's not creepy. Perhaps this is instigated by the fact that I mostly go there in the middle of the night... Food comes out fast, tastes good, and is easy enough to pull up at a bench outside or drive it home to devour in front of a good movie. My favorite is El Plato, with Carne Asada. Make sure you slather some of their sauces all over whatever you get--great salsas and sauces. The line for lunch gets crazy long, I'll stick to 2am Saturday night instead.

I think I like the Tampa one more than the St. Pete one but I have to admit that the lines in St. Pete is nothing compared to the one in Tampa. The food was alright. It was good because I was super hungry but it wasn't the best. The carne asada wasn't very good at all but I did enjoy the barbacoa. They are only open 24/7 on the weekends which I don't mind and they have a lovely dining area. The workers were okay thought, no troubles but I always feel so scared when ordering because I feel like they are always rushing me.

After getting some tacos here last night, I found myself reminiscing about the original El Taconazo on Hillsborough and Nebraska. Something got lost between the humble origins and the new, multi location behemoth Taco Bus has become. Don't get me wrong, it's still miles above Taco Bell or Tijuana Flats, but it just not as many miles as it used to be. My advice to the management.... 1. Make sure your kitchen is rolling the burritos so that the ingredients are evenly distributed. Nothing worse that eating all the meat on one end and all the veggies/pico de gallo on the other. 2. Step up the quality on the meat. The carne asada taco I had yesterday was not only bland, but also chuck full of fat and sinew. 3. Stop the price jacks! This is supposed to be cheap food. $20 for 2 people is steep for food coming out of a truck. That's my 2 cents.

Let's be realistic here folks, It Is Indeed street food, which means good food, cheap setting, casual dinning and dirty boots. Not a dating spot. BUT, I've got to give the restaurant credit for serving tasty food, not great, but for street food, not bad at all. And good credit for having a spotless clean ladies room. Staffs are friendly and helpful. If I go shopping nearby, I will consider have a quick bite here. But to drive there from North Pinellas just for taco, I think Not.

Perhaps they were having an off day (or maybe this is typical). My Sunday special carnitas taco was absolutely tasteless and greasy. The grease literally dripped from the shell as I ate, forming a puddle on the plate. The place was jam packed with people, although I don't know what they find so compelling here ... perhaps because they think it's cheap. Actually, it's not even cheap. It's not overly expensive, but not any bargain. C ordered a taco that was to have potatoes and cilantro. Not a trace of either. The operation seemed to lack organization. Very nice staff, but the operation left us scratching our heads. In our case, to get two tacos took 10 minutes. They gave us a number and brought them to our table. For some other people they simply walked around yelling names until someone claimed the meal.

I was kinda disappointed with the Taco Bus, the food seemed really expensive for what you got. I spent $8 on two very dissatisfying fish tacos that tasted like they were made with fish sticks that came with a tiny glob of re-fried beans that were tasty and some of the most unauthentic Mexican rice I have ever eaten. The taco meal I got was part of the daily lunch deal which they overcharged me for by 50 cents. The tacos were tiny, covered in wilted cabbage and the fish tasted like fish sticks and were really soggy. the flavor of them was pretty lackluster. the re-fried beans were good though, great flavor with just a little cheese sprinkled on top. the downside is that this was about 2 spoonfuls and that was it, almost like it was a condiment instead of a side. The rice was horrible. It tasted like white rice with red food coloring and it had peas and corn thrown into it which I assume was added in an attempt to make it taste like something which it miserably failed to do. all in all, I will not be returning.

Late night stop for a bean and cheese burrito, my favorite! Their salsa was very yummy, but burrito was just OK. Was very quick and easy food, cool concept with the bus as well. Would stop here again if I was hungry and wanted a quick bite.

I have only one complaint - they tend to be slow in getting food orders out. I've been to Taco Bus a few times and haven't been disappointed. I've had the barbacoa tacos lunch special. The shredded beef is very flavorful and tender. The taco toppings (cabbage, pico, onions) are fresh and compliment the corn tortilla and beef well. I happen to LOVE the refried beans and rice! My boyfriend gets the El Plato, once with carnitas and once with the barbacoa. No complaints there either. He likes the horchata, which is a Mexican rice drink. I like it too - it's a bit sweet and tastes like rice pudding. Maybe Taco Bus isn't the Best Mexican in the country, but for this area, they're damn good Mexican food!

Try the cochinita pibil! Incredibly flavorful and well-matched with its mates inside a burrito. This is also the only place I'll go and pay money for a salad (with meat on top, of course!) Delicious.

Good but not great. The carnitas and the special beef were really tasty but they were smothered in cabbage and onions. The rice and beans were pretty bland. I'd go back but I'd keep it pretty simple.

After all the great things has been said and reviewed about Taco Bus, it is CLEAR that Taco Bus is a must-go for taco, burrito, and plates of delicious food. There are no items on their expansive menu that you can't go wrong ordering. So be brave and experiment. Let me reveal the simple secret to Taco Bus ordering - you pick the meat (beef, pork, chicken, seafood), the extra fillings(tomatoes, onions, cilantro, cabbage, etc) and how you want it wrapped / or not(taco, burrito, burrito, or naked on plate). The tasty secret of their food comes from the aromatics and spices used and served up piping hot. Pair any of your order with an 'Horchata' and nothing can be any more heavenly for your taste buds and culinary delight. The dining experience at Taco Bus is simplistic (some might say rustic), mostly outdoor seating. Paired with their tasty food, the whole experience is truly a street-side eating experience transporting you to a south american affair. The only area of improvement for Taco Bus is around consistency of their service when crowded especially on weekends. From my personal experience, its best to do order ahead (use their online ordering) for weekend enjoyment of Taco Bus food. Weekday evenings are best for on-site eating experience.

Taco bus is a unique concept that cooks up delicious Mexican food from a renovated bus. There's a wide variety of menu items and many can be customized to meet your taste preferences. They offer all kinds of meats including lengua, shredded pork, chicken, tofu, shrimp and other vegetarian options. There authentic Mexican drink selection is excellent as well, I recommend the horchata which is a delicious milk and cinnamon type drink. I will always recommend all the taco bus recommendations to everyone!

I have heard SO much about Taco Bus over the years. When I posted on Facebook that I was going there for dinner, I got dozens of comments from friends reflecting on Taco Bus (for better and for worse). I went with relatively low expectations, since I've usually gotten let down by places with a lot of hype. However, I was really, really pleased. You order from the actual Taco Bus and then they have indoor and outdoor seating where you can wait and then eat if you choose. I had the $8 combo of a pollo verde burrito with beans and rice. I also had the hibiscus drink. My husband got 3 tacos. At the time of night we went, it was very busy - yet they got through everyone's order pretty quickly, which I appreciated. Once we got home, we dug in. I LOVED my burrito. The chicken was so flavorful and tasty. I loved the verde sauce. The refried beans and rice were also really good - the rice was actually authentic Mexican rice. My husband really enjoyed his tacos. I didn't particularly care for my hibiscus drink. I would not order that again. Overall, we are looking forward to going back to Taco Bus. The food was fresh and tasty and the later at night you go, you will probably be entertained by the other patrons!

Pretty cool spot to grab food before or after a Tampa Bay Rays game. I ordered one fish and one shrimp taco. The serving of shrimp inside the taco could've been a bit more generous, but was delicious nonetheless. They have both indoor and outdoor seating (I recommend indoors if you're prone to sunburn).

Oh, Taco Bus...I had such high hopes for you. I don't know where to start, so I'll keep it simple. I had the chicken taco, and was disturbed by the strange flavorless coating or paste on the chicken. Food was cold, the re-fried beans were sad, rice was mediocre and hubby's steak burrito tortilla was very stale. The steak burrito was also more like a bean burrito with a sprinkling of cold, chewy steak. How hard can it be to prepare a few slices of chicken or steak at the time the order is placed? I have no doubt that both the steak and chicken we ate were prepared long before we ordered. It was all very flavorless and unremarkable. I have had a lot of experience with Mexican food, and can honestly tell you this place falls way short. Cilantro can only cover up so much...and in this case, you'd need a truckload of cilantro with every meal. This was our fourth attempt at the Taco Bus, and I really wanted to like it. We will not be back.

This place is so overhyped. Pros: Open 24 hours Thursday to Sunday, lots of vegan and vegetarian options, fresh juices seasonally, excellent tamarind water Cons: Slow as shit with one of the laziest waitstaffs possible and awful, tacky, horrendous Latino dance pop blaring at all times Essentially, though, it's just another lame-ass, provincial St Pete restaurant. Mediocre, inconsistently prepared dishes, slow service and a clique who thinks its cult-worthy because they've never been to a city with real food for people who aren't fat. The tofu torta might have entirely too much mayo--or not. It might have a half-inch of refried beans--or not. It might have shredded cheese--who knows? It used to have cilantro, but not anymore. The green sauce ranges from mild to drowned pepper seeds, depending on the day. The red sauce ranges from mild to pure acid--again, depending on the day. I can't speak to its "authenticity," because I've never been to Mexico, but with wildly varying preparations, no one else can make the claim, either. The "food truck" thing irritates the shit out of me, too. Taco Bus is not a food truck. It's a sit-down restaurant with the kitchen in a converted bus. But it's the ONLY place within a ten block radius that's open after 10pm on a Thursday night, so . . . good for you, Taco Bus. You're like that sketched-out dude who sells everyone blow at 5AM. Shit is soggy and unsatisfying and, afterwards, you realize you wasted your money, but, hey, at least it's not meth. Now THAT shit is overhyped.

The terrible food/service at this place literally just moved me to make a yelp account... Ate here for the first time this past Tuesday night with a few friends three of us ordered whatever their version of a burrito bowl is and I ordered a salad. All of our food came out looking like slop. And was missing the cilantro, red cabbage, and most other fixings that where supposed to be included. Besides that three of us added on guacamole to our meals which only one of us got. When we pointed this out to the staff they said " it's in there" and refused to give us what we paid for. The one serving that we actually got tasted like it was out of a GFS bag and didn't have anything resembling an avocado in it. You cannot call yourself "authentic Mexican food" if you are too lazy to even make your own guacamole. Also, the chicken on my salad tasted rancid and should have been thrown out hours before I ordered it. This place is all hype, you are better off going to Taco Bell at least the prices will match the quality of food and you will probably get better service.

The Taco Bus, at least this location in St. Pete, has a lot of buzz but I'm not sure why. My best guess is that with them serving food 24hrs, everyone who is drunk finds their way here and then has "the best mexican food ever" even though they can't see straight. I was here sober, even with $1 drafts, and while it wasn't awful, I just couldn't see what all the excitement was about. My test for a Mexican restaurant is their carnitas - and this place wasn't serving any on a Friday, so I was out of luck. My experience made me miss the blackened mahi tacos of Rubio's back in California. Having moved from there most recently, I feel like I had some decent exposure to good Mexican and this simply isn't it. Unless it's 2AM, of course. LOL ....

I'm somewhat heartened to see that at least a few eaters have begun to see through the hyped up fog that surrounds the Taco Bus as an outstanding destination for authentic Mexican food. Just because they throw a bit of cilantro into your burrito, or whatever, does not a 5-star Mexican joint make. Having lived in southern California, never mind extensive forays all over Texas and Arizona, I can report that some of the food put out by the Taco Bus does, on certain occasions, taste at least a bit authentic. And, from what I understand, the ownership has its roots in Mexico or at least a place where they learned how to cook real Mexican food. But my issues with the newish Taco Bus here in St. Pete revolve around over-pricing, serious under-sizing of entrees, and my general aversion to anything that attracts hordes of half-drunk 20-somethings who proceed to rhapsodize without really having any clue as to what they are talking about. I find the food here just okay, but really priced too high for the amount of protein they put on the plastic plates. Were there an overload of food, I might forgive that it now costs close to $10 at least to get a decent meal here. But they are very stingy with the portions, and therefore, I have given up this place. I do like what they did with the decor here: all open air and rustic, and located on a far strip of Central Avenue that needed some energy to help bring it alive. You can eat inside some little rooms with air conditioning, or venture outside either under a roof or into the open courtyard. I am not a big fan, either, of the non-stop Mexican music soundtrack of over-energetic accordians and blaring trumpets, playing 24 hours a day. It gives me a headache. In short, you can fare far better for your buck with cheap, but authentic, Mexican food elsewhere. Here, you pay for the hype, the surroundings, the convenience of 24-hour operation, the pre-food truck novelty of eating food cooked in a bus, and the sense that you have "discovered" some hidden gem. Not really.

I am so happy to finally stop by a get some good Mexican food, served traditionally like I've had at street vendor's stands in Mexico.! Love their lengua tacos as well as their pork and chicken! Fresh, well cooked and loaded with whatever one wants...I like onions and guacamole! Prices are cheap and there's an outdoor seating area on noisy Central...Staff is quick and friendly. I'm going to tackle their burritos next time! Thank you, Taco Bus!

Taco bus in St Pete is so worth the drive! Casual, out doorsy, you order from the "BUS". This is seriously the BEST BURRITO EVER, & that's coming from a girl who grew up with the original Pancheros; sorry Panchys & Moe's but Taco bus Chicken Verde-no competition! The slow roasted moist chicken accompanied with the cilantro-y, spicy green sauce, onions, rice...need I say more? And the red & green hot sauces at the table...well it kinda makes you salivate a little. Also where else can you order a large pineapple water on a hot summer day? If you don't like being harrassed by wait staff & fancy wine & dine & just love burritos or tacos, well this is as good as it gets.

LOVE Taco Bus! It's a Tampa Bay staple for a reason people. Anyone who thinks this place is "eh"...I'm sorry, but you must just not like authentic Mexican. This is the only place that has ever come close to my favorite Mexican establishment. My boyfriend and I have searched high and low for a place in St. Pete that would compare to our beloved Azteca in Cape Coral, but we've found it at Taco Bus. The tacos are an obvious choice here. I've tried all the different meats except the chicken. As my bf says, "Don't be boring". If your going to be an adventurous eater this place is a good start. Try the lengua. Yes it's beef tongue. And yes it's delicious. No weird texture or anything, just an awesome flavor. Other favorites include the cochinita pibil and the barbacoa. The tacos are also served how they're supposed to be...simply dressed with lime, radishes and cilantro/onion. No sour cream, cheese or shredded lettuce here folks. Even though the tacos are awesome, this big eater is a burrito lover. My usual is the Burrito Prenado with cochinita pibil. So filling and so good. My bf's usual is the Lengua Torta. And if you're willing to spend your whole day's worth of calories, the Horchata is drool worthy. They serve all their drinks in a HUGE cup so be prepared. Try to go on the weekend to try the tamales too. I've never been a big fan of tamales, but these changed my mind. Moist and full of flavor. The only thing that I'm not crazy about is their guacamole. It's kind of bland, which is surprising since everything else is so flavorful. But hey, you can get guac pretty much anywhere and this is the type of place you go to for the tacos, not the guac. Great, now I'm hungry and craving Taco Bus!

I finally got to try Taco Bus after being pestered a bunch by a friend. Luckily it did not disappoint. I ended up with a chicken burrito loaded with veggies for under $7, big enough for two meals. Honestly I think this is the best chicken I've had in a burrito like that before and the tortilla was great. Though downside on the chips. If you are looking for something homemade with your salsa, I do not reccomend getting them here. It is just a tostada broken into pieces. Definitely will be going back though to try more menu options. I like how they had decent sized vegetarian selection.

The Taco Bus is definitely one of my favorite places to go when I'm in the Tampa/St. Pete area. Go for the butternut squash tostada for sure. The daily specials are usually solid, as well. Sometimes service can be slow when they are busy, but it's well worth it!

I've been to taco bus three times now. Each time my experience has been a little different, but several things have been true each time: The service is very slow. They need more people to wait tables, to help customers, and to cook. The food is okay, but the price is high for the food. I don't think of myself as having a delicate stomach, but I never feel super great after eating here. That being said, the flavor is great and the fact that they offer the vegan options is very cool!

I ate here for 2 months straight when they first opened. No I literally ate here everyday for 60 days straight, checked in on my Facebook everyday to prove it. It was really good then, it kinda of went down hill. guess when your on top you can only go down. they had a lot of changes with the cooks, that could be the reason.

Not being my first time eating here, I had ordered the pulled pork carnita meat in an overstuffed burrito. The stuffing was primarily refried beans. When I finally hit a piece of (what I thought should be meat) it landed up being a 2" long piece of fat. Then a few bites following this~ was a piece of bone. Geez guys, CLEAN YOUR MEAT! (& yes, I understand shit happens) but this doesn't make my experience one to be preferred just remembered! Then the young gentleman taking the order forgot to give me my cup for beverage which he is suppose to give you after you order, so I found myself retrieving this as I interupted folks ordering. Once we arrived in our car, to eat~ we noticed the sour cream tubes had been forgotten. So~off I went to the order window (again) to interupt someone else. (Boy, this chick must be needy, one must think). The looks that I got were as though I was being rude and thoughtless. As I waited patiently for the lady to complete ordering~ I then kindly excused myself. (I feel that the person at the window should have excused me since I was a first paying customer with needs due to "their" neglects) I had been giving no respect, just a kind "sorry." This used to be the place that we stopped when we were in the area, but I'm going to give it a long time out. Hopefully they will work on improving there service & clean up skills. This Taco bus could easily be back on the "Bus" map with some basic details attentioned. My husband still enjoyed what he claims to be one of the best fish tacos around. In time, I may gather up the desire to give it another chance? The food seems fresh, freshly made to order & good. And yes, this makes it better then a fast food chain anyday & I don't mind paying extra for this~

OK, $2.50 for a Mexican Coke is a bit steep (and there are 150 calories packed into that little bottle of brew!), but the Meal Deal is indeed a deal. $7.50 gets your choice of two tacos or a burrito with Spanish rice and refried beans. This food is just-made and the ingredients are fresh. It comes through in the taste and they are not stingy with ingredients. My burrito was bursting with succulent chunks of well-seasoned chicken, lovingly wrapped in a flour tortilla. Great salsa on the table for those who like to adjust the heat. We ordered at the bus window, then went to sit without problem or attitude. I did however, notice one server in particular who seemed to be constantly screwing up the order at the table next to us, and dosing the customers with his 'tude, so maybe there's something to the knocks on service. Just avoid the cute but bored-looking server dude with the knit hat. (80 degrees and you need to wear that douchy knit hat?! C'mon, get real.)

The Taco Bus is remarkably over-hyped. It has potential to be a great taco stand - but is isn't. Instead of being a quirky taco stand with great food and atmosphere, it is an overpriced restaurant with bland food and slow service. It is a shame, really. The Taco Bus' tacos and tortas would be fine if they were cheap and quickly made. That is, they are pretty nicely sized and can fill you up, but they will never leave you satisfied. However, the food is NOT cheap - you could get less expensive items at any one of several St. Pete restaurants. And the food is NOT fast - rather, you need to commit, at least, half an hour (or, probably, more time) to eating there. Don't buy into the Taco Bus' hype. You could get MUCH better Mexican food (for a cheaper price) El Metate. You could get much cheaper bland food at Taco Bell. You could get better food at any other St. Pete restaurant. Just look for it.

Authentic Mexican street food and sodas. Not Tex-mex !! Open 24hrs on weekends. Awesome salsa (love the verde) too. Cheap too.. You can get two meals for under $25. Quick too :)

Fresh Pinapple juice is soooo good as well as the pink lemonade Love the food, tacos done right.. Great daily specials not on the menu, so check that out. Easily can become a part of your weekly routine. Thanks Taco Bus!!!

As many of the other reviewers said here the prices are a bit steep. Coming from San Francisco you can pick up tacos like these for about $1. The ingredients and taste are nearly identical though and for being the only stand out taco street food in Tampa/St. Pete we'll welcome it.

I was disappointed. Didn't find a lot of flavor in their food. The beans and rice were BLAND.

The fillings were good (I had fish and chicken), but the flour soft taco tortilla was unheated and plain. Another novelty place in DTSP but this one barely clears the bar of mediocrity.

I was excited to eat here after reading other reviews. We Ordered shrimp and octopus ceviche, guacamole & chips, and a tostada. My ceviche was tough, like it was overcooked. I'm not sure how it was prepared, but it was served in a thick tomato sauce, and tasted awful. The guacamole was generic and the horchata tasted like it came out of a box. Overall a bad $20 lunch experience. We won't be back.

It's a bit of a mixed bag here at the bus. Their website boasts, "We offer authentic Mexican street food at value prices." I can't judge the authenticity based on one meal, but at value prices? C'mon! I've had lunches in full-service Mexican restaurants in more than a dozen states. The meals have been quite satisfying most of the time. The tab including a 20% tip is usually between $7.25-7.50. In all those other places I get chips and salsas to boot. My burrito "meal deal" for walk up service was $7.50. No chips and salsas. On the upside, the variety of items you can stuff into that burrito is quite a nice change from the "chicken or beef?" choice offered in those other places. The burrito itself is quite massive. The rest of the "meal deal" (rice & beans) was a bit of a disappointment as well. The rice was just okay. The beans were runny and flavorless. (note to self- No "meal deal" next time) Even the service was a bit touch and go. I noticed the guy at the window being a bit pissy to more than one customer. Granted, the customers were a bit scattered, but this is a "service" industry after all. The green and red salsas on the table were good, but not great. Will I give the bus another shot? Probably. Will I buy into the hype? Nope.

Love the butternut squash tacos. The food is fun and reasonably fast for lunch - and the fun factor is worth driving a little bit out of the way.

i've been meaning to check out the taco bus since it opened in the 'hood a month or so ago. it's been packed with people from day one, and who doesn't want to eat on a patio in gorgeous st pete weather in front of a bright yellow bus serving tacos? i finally made it over and i was not disappointed. as usually i can only review a portion of the food but that food is great! they will make a taco or burrito with "vegan" steak strips, which makes a nice change from the typical vegan mexican meal of bean burritos. the faux steak has a very nice mexican seasoning on it and the salsa in the burrito is perfect. i really enjoyed it and it's a nice vegetarian option in the hood. i love the big patio and the whole vibe of the big bright bus. it's a great little meal. it will definitely make it into my neighborhood rotation. i thought about a three star review, but i am adding the extra star for the taco bus bringing some much needed variety and light to grand central. i hope they succeed and others follow.

Carne Asada and Barbacoa tacos were awesome! Wait time to order, and time from order to mouth was short. Tons of parking, and lots of seating, and priced right!

This place was just OK. Nothing special. I ordered a buritto and although it was huge, the meat wasn't very fresh. The rice in it was good and they had a good spicy salsa which is the only reason why I'm giving it a 2 star. If you're looking for a real authentic Mexican place though, Senor Taco in Pinellas Park. Just went there and will now go there instead.

I had the pork torta with all the taco vegies and a horchata. It was great! Well seasoned and very tasty. My wife really liked her chicken taco. The red and green salsas are very good. The green one was hotter than the red salsa. We tried the rice pudding and the flan for dessert. Both were very good as well. We will definitely be going to back.

Ate at this location for the first time the other day after going to their Hillsborough location on a few occasions. Food was fantastic, the location is great being right on Central in Downtown St Pete, and the place was clean and new. I'd higly recommend. They have late late hours starting on Thursdays.

The Taco bus is the place I go to after hours and it NEVER disappoints me. I always usually order the Tostadas with stripped steak or sometimes with shrimp. Their food is always delicious and fragrant with super fresh veggies. Its a great spot to hit after a night on the town.

I took my girlfriend to Taco Bus in St. Petersburg, FL. for the first time, I'd been there before and wanted her to try it out. We were met at the "counter" by our "server" who seemed to care more about moving us along than giving us quality service. When my girlfriend asked the size of a particular menu item the man stared off into the distance and said, "you can get whatever you want". She ordered and we went to our "table" to await our food. We were met by a small cockroach on our table, as well as a smeared glob of what we hoped was refried beans stuck to the napkin dispenser. To our right were menus strewn across the table covered in food. My meal was soggy, and the tortilla shell fell apart when I picked it up. I never had to eat a taco with a fork, but I did that night. We also ordered chips and guacamole and didn't receive them. When I approached the window to ask about our missing item, the same "gentlemen" from before asked, "so you want an order of chips and guacamole?". I told him we ordered it, but didn't receive it. He asked another staff member to put together the order. What was handed to me was basically the bottom of the bag, 5 or so unsalted chips. My girlfriends first time there, was her last. The same goes for me.

The Taco Bus is one of the few food truck options we have in St. Pete, and it's definitely worth trying. I've never had a bad meal here. All of their fillings are consistently delicious whether served up as a taco or burrito. The cochinita pibil especially is one that continues to wow, with a unique mix of flavors. And I've turned so many die-hard meat eaters onto the rajas con queso, because really... how can you go wrong with strips of roasted poblano pepper with mexican cheese, salsa ranchera and sweet corn kernels. The barbacoa is so ridiculously tender, and two of the newest menu items have made their way into my regular rotation: the pollo verde desebrado, is shredded chicken in a green tomatillo sauce and the carne de res desebrada is described as a Northern Mexican style shredded beef with tomatoes and mild chiles. Fish tacos are yummy.... Carne asada burrito is one of my go-tos, if I'm in a hurry, and need to take something to eat on the go. Washed down with a Mexican coke (real cane sugar!)... mmm mmm good. If I had to lodge a complaint, it'd be that the chips you get with an order or chips and guacamole, taste like salty cardboard, which stinks because the guac is off the hook. I usually just get a side of it to spoon onto my tacos, but it's definitely good enough to eat with a fork and nothing else. And I prefer to go ala carte, rather than a meal because the rice and beans is nothing special. I'm digging the fact that they're now open 24 hours from Thursday through Sunday, and can't wait to get up there some morning to try their breakfast tacos.

The Taco Bus is a unique spot in the city. It's about time somebody in this part of the country other than BBQ guys has caught on to the joys of roadside bus eateries. Actually it's more than a simple bus. There's also a patio and indoor rooms to eat your food protected from the elements. The service is straightforward, nothing special. After ordering at the bus, you take your number and wait for one of the guys to run your food to your table. Apparently you can sit down at one of the tables and have them come wait on you, but it seems more straightforward and less guesswork for everybody if you you just place your order at the bus first. I recommend sitting under one of the umbrellas on the patio and watch the world go by while you're there. The food is good. Can't say it's the best Mexican ever, but it's definitely in the 4 star range... though it's a tad pricey for what you get. They have a nice vegetarian selection there. I'm not vegetarian though, so I recommend choosing the Cochinita Pibil as a filling for your quesadilla, burrito or whatnot. It has a succulent, tangy, smoky flavor that I love. You're better off ordering ala carte rather than the meals. The rice and beans are nothing special tastewise, and they don't add much value to your meal. The red and green sauces in the squirt bottles at your table can actually add a nice amount of additional flavor and heat to your food if you so desire. Drinks are another interesting thing here. They serve Mexican beers here if you plan on hanging out a bit, but I always want to try their other drinks instead. I'm quite the sucker for their horchata, and the watermelon agua is pretty dang refreshing in the heat of the day. Don't recommend the tamarind agua, it has an overpowering sickly flowery taste that lingers on your tongue for some time. They really need to do something about their cups and dishware, as they're apparently big fans of styrofoam. I'm sure it adds to the authentic feel that you're in 1978 Los Angeles, but I kind of feel like a tool walking around with a big white 32 ounce piece of styrofoam. Overall, not the perfect experience, but it's good... and they definitely add something to the St. Pete scene.

I have been wanting to go to the St. Pete taco bus for some time now. I love the Tampa one. I should have gotten a chicken or pork burrito instead of the carne asada one. It wasn't bad or anything it just wasn't the best. Got a huge burrito for 5.99 though. I want to try more things on the menu, and maybe I'll find something that I love.

  • Michael G.

I love the corn chips, quesadillas, and guacamole. The cheese in the quesadilla has a very unique, good taste. The entire quesadilla is also very light. You might even be able to eat two. The issue I have though is sometimes you have to wait on line for a while and the food usually takes long, but it's definitely worth the wait! It's not that the employees aren't good, it's just that the system I think needs some work.

I will say this to start: If they stayed open later, I would do anything within my human ability to get to taco bus after a night at the bars. ANYTHING. Beyond being excellent drunkie food; there's been a line around the corner every day for over a week for a reason, Taco Bus is pretty awesome. Is it overhyped? Yeah, probably, but for a restaurant based in food-truck roots, it's definitely a winner. I ordered a chicken burrito with a side of their hot sauce (which in it's own-right is pretty outstanding!). The burrito was admittedly simple, but really satisfying and fresh-tasting, a huge plus in my book.

Admittedly it was a Friday night and crowded but it took forever to get food, all of which was wrong: four orders. Wife really did not like chicken burrito which she claimed tasted like all dark meat. I know it is popular, but I do not get it.

The chicken quesadilla is awesome! I skipped the cabbage, and used their salsa that comes in the big squeeze bottle. That salsa is addicting.

  • Jeff J.

The food was a little bland. It's hard to do that when having a simple taco with chicken and cheese. After seeing their website I decided I had to try it, just because. The 3 stars is more for the novelty of it rather than the actual food. Proceed with caution. If you want a "holy shit, there's a taco bus!" moment then this is probably the place to go. The theme for me and this review is "just because". I had to try it, but I won't go back again. I'd rather just find a decent Mexican restaurant for comparable food with better taste. I visited the Taco Bus "just because". I had to find it, I had to stop there, I had to get some food. Next time I will get some food somewhere else.

My husband and I crave their food. It's authentic and when we're in St. Pete, we go for the fish tacos dinner. Sometimes we get it to go. My 4 and 6 year old boys gobble it up too! We usually eat outside, but they do have air conditioning as an option.

I am not usually a fan of Mexican food, but after continually seeing long lines to eat at this establishment I decided to give it a try. I have been there many times now, and the food is consistantly fresh, and delicious! Especially the Fish, and Shrimp tacos!!!! And so affordable! I love it. I love the funky atmosphere as well. Can't wait to go again.

Just amazing, really. These are about the best tacos I've ever gotten, price doesn't really seem that bad, and they're quick about getting you your order. Not really a location I'd choose to hang out in, but perfect for takeout or a post-bar, fill the belly nightcap.

Have eaten there twice. I would say I'm a fan. They give you choice of meat and choice of taco or burrito. Owner said they were going to add another truck in the back of the property...one will serve eat in and the other will serve take out.

  • Amber E.

I'm really sorry to go against the grain on this one but I was super hyped for the deliciousness I had heard about and it fell extremely short. The prices were kind of ridiculous considering the atmosphere. Especially in St. Pete, I don't expect to pay $8-$10 for a lunch that isn't extremely quality. The flavor was good, the service was mediocre (when 3 of us got water refills we each ended up with another's cup). I just couldn't justify paying the amount for what I got. Maybe if it was on the beach and the prices were lower, I"d return.

We love this place - can't get enough. I agree with others - the cochinita pibil is fantastic. The tamales (when they have them) are also terrific. I like spicy, and their salsa verde does not disappoint. We typically stick with tacos and have had shrimp, barbacoa, carne asada, and the pibil. All are yummy.

The Taco Bus isn't bad and im sure after a long night of boozing it'll hit the spot if ur willing to dish out about 15 bucks. You dont get much bang for your buck here, and being a food truck and not getting bang for your buck kind of annoys me. The food is good but c'mon you couldnt give some tortilla chips for that burrito i just paid $7 bucks for? Im still hungry after it.

Yummy and affordable. Sweet guys manning the bus, Parking was not difficult to find despite being in a high-traffic area. Cochinita Pibil and Lengua burrito were very good. Seating pretty minimal, and a bit sweaty on a hot day, very casual place, we had fun and will be back for more!

Ok, I'll admit it. I'm a dork. When ever we travel I like to go to places seen on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. I like to go where the locals go! So, we had to come here because we love Mexican. We only wanted something light, so we only got a couple of tacos. I got Barbacoa & my honey got Alambres (Pinchose) on soft corn tortillas. Both were yummy! I got way more meat on mine though - and OK I had 2. We also ordered chips and salsa. Tacos were awesome, can't beat those fresh fixins, but the chips and salsa was lousy. They have a pation and indoor seating. Super casual and you order your food and they have food runners bring it to you or I do believe they had full table service as well. Also - they have a fabulous selection for vegitarians. Give it a try!

great find. extra casual. order from a food truck, sit at a table in a parking lot and eat authentic tacos. I don't understand why you would go to "fast food" when you have this fast choice. I highly recommend this

    (4)
  • Paul R.

Ordered some carne asada tacos and they came our in five minutes. Fast service and really good food especially for being as street as other reviews say.

  • Danielle S.

Forget the so-so service. If the foods good, I can look past it. Ordered the lunch plate, two tacos, one cochinita pibil, one carne. The cochinita pibil was good, however, the carne asada was very bland. The refried beans and rice....blah. Their atmosphere, service or food does not warrant their prices. A carne asada taco is 2.69, and a small Dos Equis beer in a plastic cup (maybe 8 oz) 4 bucks. This is a business that gets a lot of mileage for the nostalgia of a food truck and it stops there.

Literally the worst meal I have ever experienced in my life!! I love Mexican and always heard about the Taco Bus so went with a friend. I got a Taco FULL of fat....literally. I didn't complain as the staff didn't seem very friendly and I was afraid of what I would get next. On top of it all it was fairly expensive....I wouldn't have minded if it was good but I would have rathered had burned my money and not have put a mouthful of fat in my mouth....it was literally GROSS!!! Do not be fooled by the novelty that it is a bus ... Don't bother wasting your time or money.

When I first heard about Taco Bus I was a little bit skeptical, but I love good Mexican food and tend to have a hard time locating authentic places in the St. Petersburg area. While their menu is not very diverse, if you're in the mood for good tacos, Taco Bus is a very safe bet. I think my favorite is the Cochinita Pibil taco, but it's kind of of hard to tell which one is which if you order a few in one sitting. The fish tacos are also highly recommended. Also, their drinks are served in the largest styrofoam cups on earth making it very easy for two people to share if you happen to be dining with your significant other (their horchata is amazing). Don't go expecting a nice sit down restaurant (I would hope the name kind of gives that away), but if you want delicious, delicious tacos you need not look any further.

Good fun ambiance with outdoor seating and blaring Mexican music. We were a huge table of 20+ people coming and going. I had the Torta with carne asade (not bad, but slightly underseasoned, corrected with their ready made salsas on the table), the butternut squash salsa(flavorful), and the tres leche cake(yum). I kept thinking that this would be a great concept for Vietnamese food.

I was surprised at the lack of food trucks in the Tampa area, so I was THRILLED to find the Taco Bus on my travels across St. Pete this past weekend. I was even MORE excited when I tasted how good the food was. I ordered a fish taco and a taco with barbacoa, as well as an horchata. The tacos were amazing, especially the barbacoa one. Simply made, the taco was deliciously stewed and spiced beef, white cheese, cabbage, onions, and pickled onions wrapped in two corn tortillas. The fish taco was small chunks of white fish fried in a beer batter, crema, cabbage, white and pickled onions, cilantro, and diced tomatoes. I am normally not a fan of cilantro or raw tomatoes, so I pulled some of those off, but left a small amount of each inside the corn tortillas. I had seen horchata on the Food Network before, and so I was dying to try the odd-sounding drink comprised of rice, condensed milk, and cinnamon. Unfortunately, especially since they gave me a HUGE styrofoam cupful, the drink just didn't do it for me. The texture and flavors were fine, but it was just too cloyingly sweet for me. After about three or four sips I had to give up and just buy a bottle of water. Overall, this place was great. Best tacos I've had in a lonnnng time. If only it was in the Orlando area, I'd go all the time.

This place is okay. i like the whole concept of the actual taco bus and then having a little area to sit around. I would say this is a good spot to hit up after having one of those crazy drunken nights out. I ordered a chicken "burrito preñado". It was good but the only thing that i didn't like was that they used dark (chicken) meat instead of breast. Next time i go i would def like to try the quesadillas. Oh and they really should have some chips and salsa to go along with your meal.

After reading the reviews and Foodnetwork's host Guy Fieri visiting to tape an episode here, we had to get it a try. The person at the window, he's not helpful with suggestions, he just stares at you waiting for you to order. I ordered 3 tacos; beef, pork and chicken. I really appreciate the fresh shredded veggies. I don't like the corn tortilla, I thought it over powered the meal, that's all I tasted, the flour tortilla would've been the better choice. They have this green sauce (cured jalapenos) on the table, try this, its very tasty. For $2 a taco, its a very nice deal. I would come back and try other dishes.

Very disappointed with service. Waited at the food truck for 10 minutes only to be told we couldn't order there and that someone would serve us. Waited another 15 minutes and the one waiter who was scrambling to serve all the tables never even made eye contact with us! We left... Isn't the point of a food truck is to order at the window and have food in your hand within minutes? Ugh.

Always have loved the original taco bus. Love the st Pete one even better. Better parking. Better smell. Better seating Better ambiance overall. They need to work on making sure they get to everyone that sits down, granted taco bus has always been a kind of go w the flow type f place but sometimes some guest tend to fall through the cracks. Usually if you flag someone down you get tended to fairly well.

Maybe because it was hyped up so much, or maybe because I've been ruined by great Mexican food while living in California, but i was very disappointed. For some reason i was expecting normal street tacos with just meat, onion, sauce, cilantro. They added cabbage and tomato and possibly something else, so i guess that is a plus, especially because something has to hide the fact that all of their meat selections taste the same, bland and dry. Seriously there was no flavor to anything. Thank god they had that verde sauce at the table, even if it was kinda creeply warm from the sun. The rice was interesting too, it had a bag of frozen peas/carrots/corn mixed in, you couldn't really taste it, but it kinda threw me off. Beans were really good, and the place was cool, nice atmosphere and all, but i probably wont be back. Oh well, shattered dreams of a good taco joint in st. pete.

Meh. Maybe I am biased. I've lived in Los Angeles for the past decade and I've come to know what Mexican cuisine really is. The Taco Bus is not authentic.. Maybe they aren't trying to be. But their website claims they are. But $8 for 2 "carne asada" tacos with some soupy beans and crunchy rice? Thats a little much for a place trying to make it seem that you're buying them off the truck. Generally, a taco truck offers $5 meals. Which consist of 2 Asada tacos, rice, beans and a drink. And you generally add a taco for a buck. Not $3+ And I guess its just my experience, but Carne Asada is generally a little charred and chopped very small. The chewy chunks of steak you get on the Taco Bus, arent (in my opinion) the same as carne asada. My fiance (who's from Mexico City) ordered their ceviche, and it was bad. There was no shrimp apparently available that day, so without warning, her Shrimp Ceviche was substituted with the octopus offering. She wasn't happily surprised. I've given them multiple attempts, thinking its just me being biased. Everytime my friends come down to St Pete to see a show, they always want to go to Taco Bus, and nearly everytime we're let down. I really want to like this place due to their weekend hours and the fact that it's not far from my place.. But the cool concept isn't always well executed. Want authentic Mexican? Look up Mexico Lindo on Park. The hours suck, but the food rocks.

The food was great............I waited to a couple of months after it opened because I didn't want to wait in a real long line.the food was great. The portions were filling and everything had wonderful flavors to it.

Wow! This is a must see. The food is great. People are lined up to the street to order and they are having a ball. Ample parking, and just plain fun. Try the beer with Chili powder on the rim and lime juice. Very good service. Place your order, take a seat and they bring you your food in a very short time. Great for a quick lunch break!

The first time that my wife and ate there, my meal was fine and she was terribly ill after eating their fish taco. I've returned for lunch and enjoyed the food. My wife has not.

Cool atmosphere, food is ok, slightly overpriced, crazy long wait to get food. You are better off checking out Senor Taco off Park Blvd, if you want authentic mexican for cheap, with better flavor, and no long lines. I would recommend getting the enchiladas and tacos at Senor Taco. They don't put all of the extra crap on their tacos like Taco Bus. It's just onions, cilantro, and your choice of meat. The cochinita pibil meat is hands down better than Taco Bus as well.

Everyone raves about this place so I tried it out with a friend twice. He'll eat anything and I mean anything - he doesn't have a 5-10-15 sec rule if it hits the floor - lol so with that said he enjoys the Taco Bus but neither time did I enjoy what I ordered. No hard shell tacos offered so everything is soft shell, tortilla, etc. The shredded beef was soooo greasy - but I like grease you say - well so do I but this was just way too much to enjoy. It is possible since I was the last customer of the day that I got the bottom of the pan but wow I wasn't even able to finish it. The next time I tried something like Pablo's plate or something like that and although it was better it still didn't leave me wanting for a return trip. If you eat just for the fun of eating or to get it over with you'll love the bus but I want so much more from my meals - yes all of them, every time. Does that make me a food snob?

Their fish tacos are amaaaayyyyzing, and worth the walk/ride/bike to get them.

They normally have amazing food!!! Kickass burritos and delicious guacamole But we got a vegan steak strip quesadilla at 3am and it was so salty it was unedible and when i got home I had to throw it away :( you'd think for the price we pay it should be made correctly I normally get it there and it's delicious it was barley any cheese or toppings all vegan steak strips and extra salty and unedible :( sadly I'll make sure to try anything first there instead of takeout because throwing away a 11$ quesadilla after driving at 3am just to get it is very disappointing

So coming back from the airport , my wonderful boyfriend decided to stop in and get us some platters from taco bus . I had the grouper platter which contained the rice and refried beans along with the pico de gallo. My boyfriend had the chicachron burrito with the rice. The food was good as expected , not too salty or overly cheesy. The portions in this location is small so if you want a lot you have to go to the one in Tampa .

I loved Taco Bus in Tampa and assumed it would be the same in St Pete. Went with my dad around 1-2pm weekday, place was dead, maybe because it was 900 degrees outside. Order 2 tacos each. one Chicken Verde, and one Carne Asada. Same order for both of us. I ended up with Chicken Verde and a Chipolte Chicken. My father ended up with Chipolte Chicken, and Carne Asada hahaha cant make this stuff up. They seemed more concerned with a staff meeting, then paying attention to order accuracy. If they were slammed I'd give them the benefit of the doubt however we were 2, of 5 total customers. Tacos themselves were okay, idk I remember the one in tampa being better.

Was downtown driving home at night and hungry so picked up quick bite to take home. Chips and salsa and loaded quesadilla. We've had the chips before and they were pretty good. Tonight someone must have left the bag open (like 2 weeks) because they were totally stale. Quesadilla was to be half chorizo and half chicken. Unfortunately it was "loaded" with the wrong ingredients. Must have gave me someone else's order because it only had some sort of ground beef. Tried to call but went thru voice-mail hell. Tried to connect with St pete store, but would disconnect after several rings, tried a few times. Tried extension for leaving message for manager, but mailbox full (too many complaints or too long a siesta?) Tried 90 minutes later, eventually after many rings someone picked up the phone, but never talked. I could hear them talking in background. We're done with them. Salsa was good, so I gave 2 stars. If it has the bad cilantro too, I'll reduce to 1 star ( from the bathroom.)

I have been to this Taco Bus location 4 times and 3 of them have been really disappointing to the point that I couldn't eat my food. The Taco Bus in Tampa is good but the St. Pete location seems really inconsistent. The menu has tons of potential, has a wide range of options, and has a ton of vegetarian options. The location is great and right in a great spot on Central. There is street parking and on-site lot which is pretty unheard of in downtown St. Pete. There are lots of tables inside and out. You order at the food truck, get a number, and wait for the food to come out. Also, watch out for the drink machine- that thing looks like it has never been cleaned and there was visible bacterial funk growing in the drain. The picture I posted is supposed to be a chicken quesadilla with chicken, beans, cabbage, and tomato. It was like someone slopped all of it together and put it in a box. Also, the chicken had a really sour, rotten mustard taste which was nauseating. I ended up throwing the whole thing away. The last time I was there, the rice in my burrito was so hard, I thought I was going to chip my tooth. Really wish they would step up the kitchen and consistency!

Just barely OK! Nothing offensive, nothing outstanding. Nice they have seating area with AC; all clean and nicely decorated; bathrooms nice and clean too. Service was polite but not friendly- staff seemed to have moratorium on smiles and greetings. Food was a bit of wait- not too bad but not fast. Food itself- fine. Beans were a bit too salty, rice dried out. Edible filler. Tacos with stewed beef and potatoes were tender and tasted of tomato- fine but plain. My sons carne asada was slightly tough and bland; my wife's chicken burrito was bland as well. Chipotle and Baja Fresh have bolder flavors. Taco Bell- may go there first too!!

  • German C.

Great place to go anytime but especially late at night. I had 2 tacos, a torta and everything came out great except the carne asada steak was very bland no seasoning and tasted old. I like the concept and vibe in st Pete area but they need to improve their recipe on steak seasoning. I would deff give them another chance! Don't forget to order agua de Horchata.

Second visit to a different Taco Bus. The best I can say is I want one in my neighborhood. Love their work ethic, too. The food is healthy and incredibly fresh. Do not be a snob. Put on your high heels and head to Taco Bus!

Love the Taco bus! I ordered the Cochinto Pinol and it was tasty and lots of food. They are really friendly and fast to get your food to you. Give them a try!

  • Tiffany H.

The last three or four times I've stopped at this Taco Bus, at least one of the following things has happened (in some cases multiple): my large horchata was delivered to me in a small cup, the horchata is 85% ice and still not topped off, quesadillas were either cold greasy or both, it somehow took over 15 minutes to get a small order when there was no line before or after us. Basically don't even try for their late night hours because the people working there seem to hate everything all the time. I'm also getting ready to stage a one-person protest over the lack of hibiscus lemonade now. That's just nonsense.

I love this spot. The flavor a are amazing. Everything is nice and fresh. I love the salsa as well. Very large servings. Great spot if you love to hang out in downtown st Pete.

Taco Bus is a food truck type of place. They serve some very good food. This is mostly outdoor seating. The food is always good. I usually only stop for take out. Having only tried the beef burrito, I would definitly recommend that. I also really like the green salsa provided on the side.

    (3)
  • Jennifer S.

Just edible, but I am a very picky eater. I actually prefer Chipolte's burritos and they do not even match the quality of Agave on St. Pete Beach or my hometown favorite, El Salto. Beans had an odd flavoring and the rice was dry. The chicken was not chargrilled, but rather soft. I expected much better due to the best in Tampa rating and Guy Fiore recommendation. I usually like the same restaurants that Guy Fiore recommends, so this was a dissapointment. I was also concerned that the salsas were in containers that recommended they be refrigerated after opening, and they were clearly hot. The service was slow and unfriendly.

  • Amanda Mandy B.

I had heard of Taco Bus from locals and decided to try it. I was not disappointed! The Chipotle Chicken was amazing with tons of flavor. I also had the pineapple water which took time to make but was well worth it...YUM! Seating choices of outside in the heat with lots of cute decor and lighting or inside a small air conditioned area. Nothing fancy but I loved it!

Ughhhh!!!!! I hate to do this but I have to update my review for this location and reneg on some stars. At here last week. Unknowingly ate the exact same thing as the first time we went here, the carne asada torta. Sooooo nasty this time. Everything tasted old. The meat reminded me of a dirty sock. Don't know why, that's just what I thought of. Gorgeous day out and i wasnt in a rush so I didn't mind waiting 20 minutes for my food. But to end up trashing my sandwich mad me sad because I keep trying to relive the high I got from the first time we ate at Taco Bus. I think the solution here is to steal a big squeeze bottle of green sauce to eat on my own food at home. The sauce is really the best thing about Taco Bus these days.

Oh. My. Gosh! I wish we lived closer to this place! Convenient to Dali Museum, cheap, and amazing quality of food!!!! I recommend anything with Cochinita Pabil and/or Pollo Chipotle. Amazing! We were pleasantly surprised to find out they are putting one in Sarasota! Yayyyyy!

    (5)
  • N. Mary I.

The hype is dead! This place no longer lives up to its once awesome reputation. Besides the chips and salsa every the part of the quality has gone down. Things take 4 times longer, and 4 out of my last five orders have gotten messed up. I'm vegetarian and once ordered the veggie tamales and got home to find out they were chicken... yup. The veggies burritos! Be ready for mostly rice and beans. What veggies and protein? I love their alternative meats and it's a good place to bring a crowd but QC is seriously bad these days.

  • Jerry G.

Came for lunch to get the Fish Tacos. Only problem, they had run out of the fish sauce that everyone raves about. Oh well they added guacamole no charge. The service here is some what slow and disorganized, but the job gets done. The Fish Taco's were not bad, my peeve is how do you run out of fish sauce? That's like running out of popcorn at the movies. Buying a cheeseburger and they tell you sorry, no ketchup! Anyway, I'll be back again, looking for that fish sauce! 2 -tacos $7.01

The tacos were good, the ceviche was so so. Haven't tasted the other stuff. My rating is based just on their Tacos. Would I come back? sure, for the tacos.

The problem I have with the Taco Bus, and I seem to not be the only one who shares this view is the inconsistency. When their food is good, it's great, but sometimes I'll order a burrito that's cold inside and the cheese isn't even melted. I absolutely love their selection of meats and they offer a good portion to price value, but their inconsistent quality leaves much to be desired. Get it together Taco Bus because there are other Texas Mex restaurants in the area which do your food, and do it better!

  • Carey F.

I ate here because Casita Taqueria was closed (sad face). The food here really isn't great. I've found the flavors rather bland and just kind of meh. It really surprised me because there is often a line-up and it looks pretty busy most of the time. The seating area is mostly outdoor, consisting of a covered area and lots of open air tables. I really like the set-up, however, the food just isn't good enough to make me want to return.

  • Mike B.

Great, authentic, and inexpensive tacos! Rice and beans are the best - and any of the tacos are great - add on the salsa (at tables) to add more flavor/spice and you should have no complaints. This is authentic stuff - not the taco bell or "weighted down by cheese" tacos that are prevalent in the Tampa area. Enjoy!

This is a perfect post-drinking stop. The whole concept is very interesting. This one includes indoor and outdoor seating and restrooms. The staff is very friendly. Service was crazy fast even at midnight. I had the chicken quesadilla and rice and beans. The chicken was cooked differently than any chicken I've ever had in a quesadilla which was a pleasant surprise. The rice was different too as it contained a few different vegetables than Mexican rice normally has. I was weary considering the reviews, but I really loved it.

Well after my last visit --it is my last visit!! They have gone down hill over the past few trips. The food is SLOP. I have the quesadilla--mussy and lack flavor! The steak was tough and there was very little cheese. Taco bus has nice logo togo container and cups --should spend more money on ingredients and labor. Sorry to see them take such a bad turn. Don't waste your time or money--GO ELSE WHERE!!

There is something about this Taco Bus that just does not compare to the original Taco Bus in my eyes. Sure the menu is the same and the look is the same, but it just didn't measure up. The staff was nice, mostly young college student types; they were all very friendly and polite, but they did mess up our order. Our order was lost in the mix and it took them awhile to sort things out, and it just seemed like there was no organization to the order placement/ delivery of food. Even when they did seem to sort it out (after a considerable wait), it all ended in pure disappointment when we took our take-out order back to our hotel to find that they left off main ingredients from our order and forgot the additional jalapeño peppers we ordered/ paid for. I give it 3 stars for taste. I thought the food we did receive tasted pretty good (but it wasn't great). The effort of the workers/ staff deserves an honorable mention (because despite their shortcomings that day I noticed they were really working hard to keep things moving), along with location of the place. But again, I prefer the original Taco Bus. It's the little things, like the lack of lime with your tacos (now come on, that just isn't right).

Very terrible and poor excuse for mexican food - unless you're looking for dirty mexican food with roaches. Their is seriously a roach mishap here every month or so it seems.

Just bad. Go to Casita Taqueria down the road. The carne asada was cold, had no flavor and just looked weird. My husband's food was also cold and he couldn't finish it. The only positive is the outdoor seating and that's what they get one star for.

The original Taco Bus is known as a late night haven for those who are hungry. Quick service and great food. This location has let me down. Not only does it close early, but the service is terrible. Two of orders were wrong. We sent them back and they still got one wrong. They didn't ask if we were dining in or to-go. They just put in to-go boxes. The food was good, but not excellent. The tres leche cake had no milk and the pico de gallo barely had any cilantro. And they also ran out of limes for our Coronas. There must be a reason this location doesn't get packed like Tampa.

    (3)
  • Jennifer B.

Ok, so here's the thing... The portions are amazingly huge. The service was out of sight, really friendly. The location reminded me of the food truck parks that make Austin, TX rock. Large picnic eating area, some indoors, some outdoors. Bathrooms, yea, and they are pretty clean. Overall I left the Taco Bus full and that's really cool, but... There is just a little something missing, not quite sure what it is, and whatever it is it wouldn't keep me from eating here again, but I sense it could just be a little bit more? I ordered chips and queso & guac for our table. It was good, but the guac needed some lime or salt, it was a little too grocery store. The steak taco was ok, the chicken taco, ok- once again a little seasoning was missing. It's simple food, for sure, but the umph could be amped up a tad. I would definitely tell you, make sure you read the menu board for all of the add on options, you want that tomato and onion to make your taco sing. I didn't try any of the vegetarian options, but from what I saw and heard it appears this is where the Taco Bus shines. The conchita pibil, though, that was good. I added cilantro, tomato, onion and salt tom mine and it was the spot. Also if you like your Horchata on the more vanilla side, my dining companion said it was all about vanilla. All in all it was a good meal, but the potential for great was so close...

This was sooo freakin' delicious! My cousin told me about Taco Bus so I made and excuse to have it for dinner. Mike ordered the PAPOS PLATO and I had the Pollo Burrito. Just a quick word of caution to those of you from CA. If you hit up Taco Bus be sure to just say Pollo and not Pollo Asada because they'll think you want chicken and steak. The employees are all super friendly and you can tell that they enjoy their job. I asked questions about the menu and they seemed to be genuinely into chatting it up about the different items on the menu. My burrito was huge and and full of delicious flavor. The only thing I didn't care for was they call the ingredient 'taco veggies'. It's salsa Fresca or Pico De Gallo. It may just be a local think but I would have modified my ordered. When it said veggies I was thinking like bell peppers and onions. Anyway, it was still super delicious. Their salsa is quite possibly one or the most delicious salsas ever. Their super hot sauce is sooo amazing. It has such good flavor that my mouth is burning off but I can't stop myself. Being from SoCal, the taco shop capital of the world I can say that Taco Bus is legit and those of you loving close enough to have it are super lucky.

We have been told to go here numerous times.. Very disappointed. Had the carne Asada quesadilla. Flavorless meat and super dry... Also had the chipotle chicken tacos loaded. Yet another flavorless meat choice. I am so sad that this place wasn't as good as reviews have stated.

    (1)
  • Ryan F.

Absolutely terrible. Not even the same taste as the others. My Torta bread Luke warm, the Mozzerella not melted at all nor warm, the meat was seasoned completely wrong and this is coming from someone who eats taco bus once a week.

My problem with this place is it is never consistent. Sometimes I come here and I'm in taco heaven, always craving just one more bite. Then there are nights like tonight, when the crew is too busy talking to each to get my order right. I had to send my order back twice and actually had to point out "Isn't there usually a sauce on this?" Considering there are several taco places nearby there's not a lot of room for mess ups like this

I finally made it to Taco Bus. I felt accomplished. We drove from Port Richey to do something in the area and decided it was time for me to lose my Taco Bus virginity. Would I eat it again? Yes! Would I drive from Port Richey just to have dinner there? No. It's very casual. I like the outdoor seating. Much to my confusion, Taco Bus is actually a bus in front of a building which has indoor and outdoor seating. Your condiments are two salsas on the table (see picture for ingredients). I got the spicy shrimp and chipotle chicken tacos. Chipotle chicken was Friday's filling special. Each day of the week there is a different special not regularly found on the menu. There was nothing special about the creamy chipotle chicken - it was pretty flavorless, but I was wishing I ordered five more spicy shrimp tacos although I was already full (don't judge me). I loved the fresh lime and vegetables. The cabbage made the taco delicious. I wasn't expecting to feel that way about it. I'm confused by the frustrated people. Taco Bus doesn't advertise themselves as being one of the top five Mexican restaurants in America so I'm not sure where the disappointment lies. It's an affordable, fun, and fresh place to get tacos that is better than Taco Bell. I'm looking forward to going back and trying a meal with rice and beans and skipping the chicken. 4 stars for being one of the best and friendly food trucks I've encountered. Oh! And vegetarian options! Can't wait to try the tempeh, tofu, and butternut squash as well.

After the Rays game, we were hungry for mexican and found this place. OMG. The tacos at this place are authentic and delicious! There is an old school bus that you walk up to and place your order. The prices are really decent for the quality of food that you receive. They also have $2 Coronas. Yay! They bring your food to your table once it's ready and there are several picnic tables outside where you can sit. This is a really great late night place to pick up something quick (they're open until 4am on Fridays and Saturdays!).

I am a sucker for a good taco place....and a good taco place is hard to find. But I found one in the Taco Bus. I would eat here every day if I lived in the area. Fish tacos have crispy fresh fish. Guac is fresh. I also love that they have so many veggie options that you can get in the form of taco or tostada. I can't decide whether I like the Rajas Con Queso or Butternut Squash the best so I get both and stuff myself silly. I would suggest the Agua Fresca as well to add a refreshing drink.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization.
